I was in Rhos yesterday, and the Corner Cafe has closed.

A PUB in Conwy is up for sale as part of a chain?s decision to market 61 establishments across England and Wales.

Pub chain Marston?s currently operates more than 1,700 pubs and bars across England and Wales, with around 300 tenanted and 500 leased.

However, 61 of these have gone on the market, with Marston?s wishing to ?focus on our strategic objectives and maximise returns from our core estate.?

Cross Keys, on Llanrwst Road, Llansanffraid Glan Conwy is among these pubs, one of seven across North Wales, with another in South Wales.

CAFE and bar chain Loungers will be opening its Ormo Lounge in Llandudno on Wednesday, 10 May.

Loungers will transform the Gloddaeth Street site, that previously belonged to M&Co, into a retro-inspired retreat, with a nod to a glamorous bygone era.

Patterned wallpapers, tiling and stripped wooden floors will feature alongside oversized vintage sofas, upholstered lounge chairs, artwork and statement wall and pendant lighting, creating a variety of cosy and elegant drinking and dining areas to choose from.

Ormo Lounge will cater for all tastes throughout the day with a varied all-day menu.

The all-day menu will feature everything from tapas and salads to burgers and buttermilk fried chicken, with vegans and those favouring a gluten-free diet well catered for with their very own menus.

I visited the Wells, Somerset, branch of Loungers last Summer and was very impressed with the service and quality of food. It should be a good addition to Llandudno's eateries.

A POPULAR tearoom in Llanrwst has re-opened after a change of lease, with a new look and menu.

Tu Hwnt I'r Bont Tearooms, a 15th century Grade II listed building, changed hands in January via agents St David?s Commercial.

It opened its doors once again on March 18 under new leaseholder Carrie Parisella following a total refurbishment of the site, as well a new website and branding..... https://www.tuhwntirbont.co.uk/

Carrie also owns Parisella?s Ice Cream Parlour in Conwy, and her family have been in the catering industry for more than 60 years, while she has also enjoyed a career in finance.

It used to win on the basis of simplicity alone. Home made scones, butter, jam and cream were the staple and their Welsh rarebit quite phenomenal. Now the ice cream will be outstanding, one assumes.

That brought back some nice memories for me because I remember Joe Parisella coming in to Cwm Place and selling his ice cream.   That must have been about 65 years ago and Joe had his ice cream at the front of his tricycle and usually parked his tricycle by David Rawling's house.   Good old days

A Vietnamese restaurant has opened at the old site of a popular caf? in Llandudno.

Vietnamese Street Pho have opened at 151 Mostyn Street, where the Salt & Pepper Caf? Restaurant used to be.

The restaurant is run by the owners of the neighbouring The Mediterranean Restaurant, and offers a range of food options with a street twist.

With noodle, rice, roll and soup dishes galore, the restaurant caters to both bookings and walk-ins.
