Legendary local restaurant boss closes Llandudno Italian after 30 years
Antonio Manfredino started Valentino Ristorante & Pizzeria in 1992 and has put his heart and soul into the food for three decades

While Antonio is going there is hope the restaurant could remain. Talks are taking place over someone potentially taking the site on.

North Wales county tops national list for the most places in the AA Restaurant Guide 2023
Conwy is top of the pile in Wales

A North Wales county has topped a national list for having the most eating places in the AA Restaurant Guide 2023. AA Publishing has launched the "perfect guide to the UK?s top dining destinations".

It features over 1,400 restaurants which have been awarded Rosettes for culinary excellence by the AA?s professional inspectors. Conwy is the county with the highest number of restaurants in Wales, with 11, followed by Gwynedd and Pembrokeshire with nine each.

Conwy's list includes the three Rosette The Jackdaw, in Conwy town and Bodysgallen Hall, near Llandudno with Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias and Signatures restaurant, Conwy, among the two Rosette sites on there.

JOHNNY Dough's has opened its latest restaurant in Rhos-on-Sea.

The new restaurant, located at the former Natwest bank site, opened on Saturday, October 22.

Morgan Austin, founder of the popular pizza brand, now has five sites in North Wales: Llandudno, Conwy, Penmaenmawr, and Johnny Dough?s Junior in Colwyn Bay, but this is by no means his final project.

Morgan said: "We signed the lease in May. We were slightly delayed with certain aspects of the project but that?s just the way of the world at the moment.

"The opening went well and I think Rhos is great place with a lot to offer tourists and locals alike.

A pub that had been a home for "goths and emos" before its closure has gone up for sale. The Pavilion in Colwyn Bay shut back in July.

At the time the operators said they were shutting it "with a very heavy heart" and that they had been proud to create a community that people "did feel a part of". They also said that the "bar for goths and emos" had experienced trouble from those who didn't understand the community.

Now the pub has been placed on the market with commercial agent Fleurets. It has an asking price of ?500K.

Trendy bar that's one of the 'finest looking' in Wales up for sale after closing
Sheldon's opened as a modern craft ale, wine and cocktail bar back in 2018

A trendy bar - dubbed one of the "finest looking" in Wales - has been placed on the market. Sheldon's opened as a modern craft ale, wine and cocktail bar back in 2018 after the owners transformed a former stationery shop that carried the same name.

It had proved a major success in the town - adding to the reputation of Penrhyn Road as a popular evening out destination. But like all hospitality businesses it was impacted by Covid lockdowns and restrictions as well as then facing a huge spike in energy costs.

The freehold is on the market with St Davids Commercial for ?189,950.

Colin Flannigan, from St Davids Commercial, said it was an "immaculate" site. He added: "It is a good investment opportunity as we have tenants lined up."

The listing described the bar as "undoubtedly one of the finest looking wine bars/cafes available". The site is 2,112 square feet in total with a fitted bar and kitchen.         ref DP

Llandudno's former Valentino's restaurant reopens under new Italian family
The restaurant closed after 30 years in October when Antonio Manfredino announced his retirement

But now the Venezia family have taken on the site.

Sibilla and Michele Venezia have more than two decades of restaurant experience and ran a successful site in Craig-y-Don for many years, leaving three years ago.

The reopened restaurant on Gloddaeth Street is called Da Venezia - with other family coming on board to help run the site. A spokeswoman for the family said: ?After years of successful trading in Craig-y-Don, the Venezia family are back with their new Italian restaurant.

Conwy's top TripAdvisor pub stands out - but it's not where you might expect it to be
The tucked-away pub has jumped to the top of the list

Across Conwy county there are dozens of pubs, each with their own merit and style and reason to tempt you in. As such, you'd expect the most popular pub in the area - according to TripAdvisor - to stand out.

Yet the best pub in Conwy for 2022 is tucked away on a backstreet in Llandudno, away from the hustle and bustle of the popular town's high street. This pub is The Snowdon, which sits nestled close to the Great Orme. Tucked among hotels and houses, it can be easy to miss, though it'd be a shame to do so.

Inside the new ?Craft Beer Cave? open in Penrhyn Bay!

TWO beer enthusiasts have opened a new craft ale bar in Penrhyn Bay, ten months after selling their popular previous premises.

Beverley Williams and partner Roland Edwards have opened the Craft Beer Cave, having sold their B-More Local convenience store and original beer cave in February this year.

With Beverly having worked in the off-sales sector for many years and Roland a seasoned stock purchaser, the pair and their staff have lots of knowledge to share with customers to help them pick the perfect pint.
