THE BOTANICAL Lounge in Colwyn Bay is set to close this weekend, as the owner moves on for personal reasons.

The caf?/bar/kitchen, at 162 Conway Road, has become a popular place since it opened at the end of December 2021, with an expansive menu, a vibrant interior and great customer service.

The owner of the bar will be moving on due to a ?change in personal circumstances?, and thanked all those that had supported the business to this point.

Tomorrow (Saturday, 1 April) will be there last day open, and the business is available on a lease with Dafydd Hardy.

A FAST food chain based in North Wales is to open another new site this summer.

Hungry Cow, which opened its first restaurant in Holywell in February 2022, will soon be setting up at the former takeaway site of Virgilio?s Portuguese restaurant on Penhryn Road.

The chain, known for its huge burgers, wings and loaded fries, opened its second restaurant in Mold early this year.

It also has two express kitchens; one in Llandudno, which opened last month; and one in Prestatyn.

Hungry Cow said: ?We are super excited to be opening another location this summer 2023!

?We have taken on the former Virgilio?s takeaway site, and renovations are well on their way to transform it to a Hungry Cow bar and restaurant.

?We will be operating dine in, takeaway and delivery.

?We will be serving a range of cocktails, draught lager, Welsh craft ales, and a selection of spirits and ciders.?

Christy Goode, from Flint, set up Hungry Cow in 2021 after first renting pub kitchens at the George and Dragon in Flint and the Cross Foxes in Prestatyn, before opening his own restaurant in Holywell.  ref pioneer

A NEW takeaway serving gourmet burgers and more is set to open in Colwyn Bay later this week.

?The Byre? will be based on Conway Road, and is to celebrate its first day of business on Thursday (April 20).

As well as gourmet burgers, it will also serve loaded fries and ice cream milkshakes.

It will be run jointly between two former chefs: Scott MacAlpine, originally from Scotland but who has lived in Colwyn Bay for the last 10 to 15 years; and Jake Jones, from Llysfaen.

Scott previously worked at Bryn Williams at Porth Eirias, and both also have experience of the kitchen at Llandudno?s Dunoon Hotel.

This will be their first venture into the business world.

THE OPENING of the Ormo Lounge in Llandudno is just a week away, and excitement is already building.
Restaurant and bar chain Loungers has transformed Gloddaeth Street site, which was previously home to M&Co for more than 20 years.

The retro-inspired retreat, with a nod to a glamorous bygone era, will be open all day, and will serve breakfast and brunch options, sandwiches, flatbreads, tapas, burgers and desserts.

Llandudno restaurant serves up 'modern Italian food with a Welsh twist'
Sapore is 'mini in size but maxi in meal appeal', our reviewer found

If you fancy a taste of la dolce vita without travelling far, look no further than Sapore Restaurant ? a delightful family run eatery that brings the genuine cuisine and atmosphere of Italy to the heart of Llandudno.

In Italian the word ?sapore? means taste or flavour and here it is provided in abundance, as my dining companion Elaine and I found recently when we sampled some of the house specialities. Mini in size but maxi in meal appeal and hospitality, this unpretentious restaurant tucked away near the top of Upper Mostyn Street offers an extravaganza of authentic Italian food that is lovingly cooked and attractively presented.

Importantly, it's affordable! Previously known as Lawtons Cafe Grill, the premises reopened in August 2021 in the hands of new owners Adriana and Lorenzo Lo Conte and their family, who successfully ran Mamma Rosa Restaurant in Craig y Don for nearly a decade.

A PROPERTY previously occupied by a restaurant in Llandudno has been made available to let after its closure late last year.

24 Mostyn Avenue, Craig-y-Don, is available to let with estate agents St Davids Commercial on a three-to-five-year lease.

The site was home to Bistro Bach from 2016 until November 2022, when the restaurant?s owners were forced to close amid a number of financial issues.  pioneer

Coast replaces Alana Spencer at seafront cafe site in Llandudno as doors reopen
The Apprentice winner announced her departure last month but the paddling pool kiosk is now back open

Popular cafe brand Coast has opened its seafront site in Llandudno after the departure of Apprentice winner Alana Spencer.

The seafront site is owned by Conwy council and the tenancy was secured by Darren Randle, who runs the Coast cafe and gift shop and Salty Cow milkshake bar in Rhos-on-Sea.

His team set about transforming the site after getting the keys, nice to see the exterior colour changed, This week it opened to the public. The paddling pool next to the site remains empty due to problems finding a contractor to carry out anti-slip safety work but it is hoped this will be rectified in the very near future.

A POPULAR caf? in Rhos-on-Sea has gone on the market, with the current leasehold owner saying it would be an ?incredible opportunity? for potential buyers.

The family-run Marmalade Kitchen, at 14 Rhos Road, is up for sale for ?224,995.

Marmalade currently offers a diverse range of food and drink options and also caters for delivery with a separate ?meals on wheels? menu.

The business is owned by Sophie Reynolds, who also runs clothing shop Ellekat and accessory/gift store EK&Co.

PLANS for a new brewery and taproom bar in Conwy town centre have been approved by the council.

The industrial unit at 6A Lancaster Square, located down the alleyway between Saffron and The Cosy Home Company, will become an ancillary taproom bar and brewery.

The application was submitted by Black Cloak Brewing Ltd, which already runs the Black Cloak Brewery & Taproom on Abergele Road, Colwyn Bay.

The popular pub/bar serves a wide range of IPAs and craft beers, and promises more of the same for Conwy residents and visitors to the town.
