There was a nice clip of Llandudno on the BBC TV this morning and the reporter said that Llandudno is the place to be this weekend

I would imagine that the A55 will be extremely busy if that's the case and best avoided if that is possible

We had our walk along west shore / invalids walk down church walks then onto prom 11 o’clock not many parking spaces left, town was heaving, let’s hope this is the start of town being busy.  But our council need to sort a park and ride system out.   Going over to Conwy yesterday morning the amount of  traffic by the castle was gridlocked, god help when the flyover is closed for nearly 12 weeks 🤭

It's good to hear that the town is busy and I hope that everyone enjoys the Bank Holiday but the parking is a problem.
Don't mention the Park and Ride to Mostyn Estates though as they just want to build houses on the Bodafon Farm.    They have applied before for park and ride buses to go from the farm and have even touted for trams too
I believe that Mostyn Estates would have been granted permission for a Park and Ride in Llanrhos just off the A470 but the Estate just wanted their mitts on the more lucrative Bodafon Farm

I'm pleased that you had an enjoyable walk in this nice weather Norman but hope that you didn't miss the FA Cup semi final on TV.   It was a cracking game between two great teams but on the day the better team won.   I can't wait to see the final        $good$

A MAN known for his exceptional knowledge of Llandudno has had tributes paid to him on his 90th birthday.

Tom Parry, a historian who had lived in Llandudno for all of his life until recently moving from his previous home on the Great Orme to Conwy, turns 90 today (April 19).

Tom was also formerly a part of the Great Orme Exploration Society, a group initially set up in 1985 by mine explorers in the area who wanted to study, investigate, and promote the history of “Llandudno's Mountain”, with a particular focus on the old mine workings.

Congratulations to Tom on his 90th birthday        $good$        $walesflag$

If I have wanted to know something about the Great Orme in the past I have always asked Tom and he has given me the answer and helped me to find things.

Llandudno is to gain a second twin town this summer. The North Wales resort, home to cable cars and a dry ski slope, will sign a twinning agreement with a Swiss village that’s a gateway to the world’s largest international ski area.

A Memorandum of Understanding between Llandudno and Champéry, and its surrounding region of Dents du Midi, was signed on April 1. The arrangement will be formalised in Switzerland on Swiss National Day, August 1, and a similar celebration is due to be held in the Conwy resort on a date yet to be fixed.

Before then, in July, a team of top Swiss skiers is due in Llandudno. Despite the country’s sporting prowess on the slopes, Switzerland lacks dry ski slopes and so its winter athletes aim to get some off-season training on the Great Orme.

Council say 'no rules were broken' after backlash over Llandudno housing plan vote
Proposals were approved despite half of the planning committee failing to vote on the controversial application

No rules were broken?    I suppose it was all done with integrity too.      Those hollow words seem to be banded about quite often nowadays

Not one councillor on that committee are from Llandudno Hugo, I have asked many times what price do they reckon is affordable,  walking around town lately I fear for the future it is getting run down along mostyn street.

Why be a member of a committee if you are going to abstain - surely every proposal requires every voter to give a yay or nay.

The Llandudno Councillors should be ashamed of themselves for not voting in that controversial planning application.    I wonder if they also refused to apply for any expenses too.

I'll say it again that Mostyn Estates won't be satisfied unless they have building permission for all that open farm land.   They are trying to make the land unviable for farming.      I would imagine that Mostyn Estates will allow a building application to be made on another part of the land within 5 years and our gutless councilors will do the same again.

A 12-year-old boy accused of 19 offences in a £9,000 crime spree was “a good kid really”, his mum told a youth court. He received a nine months referral order for his crimes.

Court chairwoman Ann Dickinson told the youngster at Llandudno Magistrates' Court :”It’s your first time in court for sentencing. Custody isn’t an option at this stage.”

No compensation was awarded. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted a £5,000 burglary at B&M Mobiles and Computers shop in St George’s Place, Llandudno, when “vapes” were among his haul.

He also admitted a catalogue of thefts from shops, threatening behaviour, harassment at a block of flats and a shop, £4,000 criminal damage at Llandrillo yn Rhos infants school, and common assault at a store.

Defence lawyer Hannah Davies said social services had become involved and the boy was sorry for his behaviour. “He doesn’t know why he does it,” she remarked. “There has been a lot of difficulty getting him to see the consequences of his actions.”

Many of the offences involved young boys misbehaving. But her client had been on police bail and had settled down since being banned from associating with some other youngsters.

The court chairwoman told the boy :”You went on an offending spree through February and March. We need to prevent further offending or it’s going to get worse and worse for you.”

A private school in Llandudno plans to demolish its sports hall to make way for a new performing arts centre as part of a £15m redevelopment plan. St David’s College has applied to Conwy County Council for planning permission to demolish its sports hall.

The removal of the sports hall is being hailed as the first step in a £15m refurbishment project at the school on Wormhout Way that will see new facilities across the whole site. But the arts centre itself won’t be built immediately following the building being demolished – if the plans get the go-ahead.

In a supporting letter to Conwy County Council’s planning department, the school revealed that, in the short term, restoration work will be carried out following demolition, in which a base slab will remain. This will be fenced off until a second planning application is submitted for a temporary seating area.

The school then plans to use the location as an outdoor seating area in the medium term, providing an area for pupils to sit and enjoy outdoor lessons during warmer weather. But in the longer term, the school has revealed it plans to build a new performing arts centre, in which "the design aspect of the building will be vitally important to ensure it fits into the historic surroundings".

Speaking with friends over the weekend, we discussed the lack of a market in Llandudno, many years ago their was a plan to open one in  the car park adjacent to Wetherspoons  http://www.northwales.com/exciting-new-market-day-coming-to-llandudno/ but nothing came of it, I think a market it would be a great asset to the town ?
