Conwy County Council’s planning department has also received an application for B&Q on Charlotte Road, Llandudno, for permission to erect a temporary standalone office building for the purpose of purchasing used motor vehicles from the public. The purchased vehicles will be stored temporarily until they are moved off-site.          ref DP

I see it in the B&Q car park when I visit the gym at the swimming pool.

They have a pickup of the bought cars each week, and they're sent to BCA. WBAC has been  a branch of British Car Auctions since 2013.

Has anyone bought a car from Cinch - yes - then, guess where they get the cars from!

Ian and I posted same time!  Seems we have different answers but my answer came from the horse's mouth (so to speak) when I sold a car to WBAC a coupleof months ago.

It's complicated...(!)  The ultimate owner seems to be TDR Capital (who seem to be intent on taking over the world). The current subs are:

Algeco Scotsman
David Lloyd Leisure
EFR Group
Hurtigruten
Keepmoat
In my humble opinion Car Wash Group
Retirement Advantage
MCS Group
Stonegate Pub Company
Ving Group (20%)
EG Group (50%)
Asda (50%)
Buffalo Grill

But I"d need to examine each one at companies house to discover where BCA are now nesting.

Todays DP story, sounds like what we discussed yesterday?

A retrospective planning application jas been submitted for a We Buy Any Car office set up on the grounds of a B&Q car park. Agent John Johnson has applied on behalf of Mr Joseph Christian for permission for a temporary office at the B&Q car park on Charlotte Road Llandudno

Whilst the application has been registered with Conwy County Council, it doesn’t mean it will be granted. Conwy’s planning committee, which is made up of councillors, will decide if the application is granted or refused. Council planning officers can also make decisions if they are given delegated authority.

The temporary office, which has been operating for months, was set up on behalf of We Buy Any Car, a service that allows car owners to sell their vehicles for cash. Once sold, the vehicles will be stored temporarily at the car park then moved off site

The proposal is to change the use from A1 Retail to A1 and A3 retail / catering in order to incorporate a coffee shop within the retail store at 127 Upper Mostyn Street, Llandudno.

A search shows B W Ryder & Co Ltd leather goods shop at that address

FOR 10 years, North Wales Honda has resided on Mostyn Broadway in Llandudno.

Now with 24 team members, the evolving family business will enter its second decade on Argyll Road, ready for the new era of hybrid and electric cars.

North Wales Honda and Llandudno Kia are part of the newly branded North Wales Motor Company Ltd, but the family of business has branched out from car dealerships and has added a new string to their bow - The Motorsport Lounge.

Led by Dave’s wife Sally, The Motorsport Lounge is a unique themed venue with a stage, bar, conference space and specialist car museum.

Live music is one of the venue’s specialities, with rock performances to jazz nights, and is situated on Builder Street, only a two-minute walk from the dealership.

Tourism sign review on A55 after Llandudno's attractions wiped off the roadside
The town does not feature on the brown visitor attraction signs near the key junction for the resort

A review of tourism signs on the A55 will be carried out. It follows concerns that Llandudno's attractions had been erased from roadside signs.

Wales's most popular holiday resort did have its attractions promoted on brown signs next to the westbound carriageways near junction 19. But one was blown away in a storm and then another removed and a new sign erected promoting attractions in the Conwy Valley.

It means there are no signs highlighting some of the town's key sites for travellers heading into north west Wales at the junction, which links with the A470.

Nick Jowett, the manager at Great Orme Mines in Llandudno, raised the issue with Aberconwy MS Janet Finch-Saunders. She took it up with Vaughan Gething MS, Minister for Economy in Wales.

Now Lee Waters MS, Deputy Minister for Climate Change, has written to confirm a review will start this month to identify missing signs and action taken to address this in the current financial year.

Mr Jowett said: "We know how important tourism is for Llandudno and so many people travel along this road.

"Having brown signage showing some of the key attractions can give people a reason to turn off and show them some of the sites we have in the town. The more people that come the more everyone benefits too, like restaurants and cafes."

Mrs Finch-Saunders said: "That a brown sign on the main road that brings tourists from across the world to Aberconwy was blown down almost a decade ago and not replaced goes to show how ineffective the Welsh Government is at supporting our tourism sector.

“It is also unacceptable that Welsh Government officials seem to have decided to replace a brown sign with details of attractions in Llandudno, with one only highlighting locations in the Conwy Valley.

“As I made clear to the Minister for Economy, we should have brown signs promoting the amazing experiences on offer in both the Conwy Valley and Llandudno.

“Tourism's value to the local economy in Conwy is estimated to be worth £887.62million. This is thanks largely to the tireless work of the private sector. The least the Welsh Government could do to help them is provide brown signs guiding guests to exciting experiences."

Er..." a brown sign on the main road that brings tourists from across the world to Aberconwy".  Must be a very large sign, then.

"goes to show how ineffective the Welsh Government is at supporting our tourism sector."

Ah.  So now we see it. I'm guessing we will start to see a raft of comments from Tory AMs commenting on how 'dreadful' the Welsh government is, given their national leader is not only a liar but now, it seems, a criminal, although he was apparently totally unaware of the numerous parties happening at Downing St during the first major lockdown, including those he attended.

Johnson would have been gone by now, were it not for Putin invading Ukraine and the pandemic. It's also truly appalling that the national 'leader' was chosen by a very small number of sept-and octogenarian members of the Tory supporters club.

I think the finch should get onto her chums at Ccbc the big sign. At the bottom of Conwy road near the links they took down over 2 years ago high winds still not been put back, What has she done for Llandudno 🤔. Nothing in all the years she’s been down Cardiff way.

Future residents living in 77 new homes proposed for wasteland in Llandudno will be unlikely to be bothered by vibrations from a nearby railway, claims a planning survey submitted by developers. Conwy County Council has received and registered a planning application from Lane End Development Construction Ltd, who submitted the survey measuring vibration levels next to the railway.

The survey follows Lane End Developments Construction Ltd being given unanimous backing by Conwy councillors in January to build 21 houses and 56 apartments on Oxford Road in the centre of Llandudno - you can read more about that decision here. But the developers were told they must provide proof of appropriate vibration levels before they were given the green light, and this application for the removal of the condition will now be considered by Conwy’s planning department.
