NEW analysis of Companies House data by Yell Business has revealed that Llandudno is the start-up capital of the UK, with more businesses formed in the Welsh coastal town per capita than anywhere else during 2021.

The report, that looked at every business formed in the UK during 2021, helps to show that, despite another challenging year, the entrepreneurial spirit of the UK is alive and well.

Indeed, more businesses were founded per month in 2021 than in 2020, or even during 2019 before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

With an average of 13 per cent more new businesses founded each month in 2021 compared to 2019, the analysis pinpointed which areas of the UK were the most entrepreneurial, by calculating the number of new businesses formed in each location while factoring in population size.

The research shows that big business doesn’t just start in the city; in Llandudno, a total of 16.2 businesses were founded per 100 people in 2021, while Surrey’s Redhill (11.6) and Tunbridge Wells in Kent (10.8 followed.

Cheshire also stands out as being the most entrepreneurial county in the UK, with Chester, Stockport and Warrington all featuring in the top 20.

Further breakdowns of these findings can be found in the full report, published on: www.business.yell.com/sme-insight/the-entrepreneurial-spirit-of-the-uk.                     ref pioneer

Hi Hugo I've just read the post,s story, wish they would get real reporters,  Cllr Ronnie Hughes and Cllr Philip Evans got this sorted for the resident and the resident thanked them both for their help,  you can tell the local elections are coming up finch Saunders trying to be the saviour. The Bollards have been put on the pavement by the bridge not in the close 😂, but in people opinion they have put them in wrong place, nothing new with Ccbc.

Didn't an accident happen by the roundabout some time ago and they smashed through the garden wall of one of those houses?

Storm Eunice is on its way so it's a good job CCBC  hasn't done any sand clearance this week.    Oh I forgot, they did some recently    &shake&

Storm Gladys is on its way next so CCBC might as well wait until Easter before they do any more sand clearance

It's beyond unbelievable with the CCBC  Norman.        CCBC needs a licence from DEFRA to put the sand back on to the beach below the high water mark and that is the reason why they dumped sand above the high water mark and left the beach sometimes looked like this

I hope that CCBC has got a licence from DEFRA to dump that alleged contaminated sand onto the lovely sandy beach at Colwyn Bay but have they?

February news from Cllrs. Louise Emery, Greg Robbins and Harry Saville

URBAN TREE PLANTING PROGRAMME
Work is due to start soon on a county borough wide urban tree planting programme.  This programme is part of the council's Biodiversity and Decarbonisation Plans which we supported and were introduced last year.  Following feedback from local residents we've secured several projects around Llandudno:
Llwynon Road:
This project involves planting a new mini-forest on a plot of land next to the Llwynon Road estate.

The Oval & St. Andrew's Avenue:
The project will see trees planted along either side of St. Andrews Avenue, both on part of The Oval and around the Cartrefi Conwy properties.

Lloyd Street:
Historically Lloyd Street was a tree lined road, although all but one of the trees has been removed since 1950.  Being a paved road makes Lloyd Street a challenging location, however, the original "tree pits" are still in situ.  This project will aim to return Lloyd Street to its 1950s appearance.

The projects on Llwynon Road and The Oval & St. Andrew's Avenue are due to start imminently.  Preparatory work will also begin on Lloyd Street, although the trees will likely be planted in late 2022.

Lovely, nothing nicer than a tree-lined street. Unless it’s the 1950’s in Sylvia Gardens North and you’ve been tied to one by your big brother and his mate on the way home from school. The tree was their totem pole apparently and I had to wait until two little old ladies came past to be freed.

CALLS have been made for Conwy County Borough Council to decline an application for a housing development on a Llandudno greenspace.

Anwyl Homes’ proposal for 49 new homes, 17 of which will be affordable, has been put forward for land which forms part of a registered historic landscape, at the corner of Bodafon Road and Nant-y-Gamar Road, Craig-y-Don, next to Ysgol Y Gogarth and Llys Gogarth residential facility.

The application will be discussed by the council’s planning committee on Wednesday, March 9.

Numerous concerns have been raised regarding the development, including the potential dangers to wildlife and land at Bodafon Fields.

Others fear the impact it will have on congestion on the roads, as well as at Ysgol Y Gogarth, a school for pupils with special educational needs aged between three and 19.

Plans for 49 homes in Llandudno rejected over fears of impact on school
Anwyl Construction had hoped the build the homes on land in Nant y Gamar Road

Perhaps Anwyl can now concentrate on the Penmorga site instead?         &shake&
As for Mostyn Estates, they are determined to make the farm unviable and get their greedy mitts on the land and build houses there

THE MP and MS for Aberconwy, as well as councillors and a Llandudno resident, have shared their reactions to the rejection of an application to build 49 homes on a Llandudno greenspace.

Aberconwy MS, spoke of her delight at the news, having written three letters outlining planning policy routed reasons as to why the estate should not have the go-ahead.

She said: “Anwyl should have concentrated on building homes in West Shore rather than submit an application for Craig-y-Don which has caused considerable distress.

A Japanese-speaking aristocrat will open the doors of his stately home to wealthy tourists. It is part of a drive to increase the number of visitors to North Wales from Japan.

One of the highlights of a bespoke trip for the wealthy Japanese visitors will be a guided tour in their own language by Lord Mostyn of his historic 15th century stately home, Mostyn Hall in Flintshire. The 6,000-acre estate also includes the seaside resort of Llandudno which also features as part of The Road of Castles in Wonderland tour which was designed by North Wales Tourism specifically with the Japanese market in mind.

Lord Gregory Mostyn, the 7th Baron Mostyn, is already something of a celebrity in Japan. His family’s close connections with the East Asian country date back to the early 20th century and the fascination of Lady Augusta Mostyn, the daughter in law of the second Baron Mostyn, with all things Japanese.
