The reason strange pipes are poking up from beautiful North Wales beach
They're part of a practice that can border on an obsessionSeaside residents have been left puzzled by the appearance of plastic pipes embedded in a popular beach. The curious looking array was installed on Llandudno’s West Shore pointing out across the Conwy Estuary towards Mynydd y Dref and Penmaenbach headland.
An online photo of the assemblage prompted plenty of head-scratching and a few wild guesses. The pipes were arranged in the sand next a rock groyne on a beach sometimes described as Llandudno’s “hidden gem”.
