I personally don't see the problem of moving the library to the theatre site.I rarely use the library, likewise the theatre. Maybe someone can enlighten me as to why it shouldn't be moved?

Llandudno residents divided over council's library switch
The decision has prompted a mixed response and exposed a broader problem of local governance and resource allocation

Everyone I have spoken to about the Library moving to Venue Cymru thinks that it is a bad idea.   Are you in favour of it Dave because you may live in Craig Y Don?      You've raised a good point though and I wish that someone could explain to the people of Llandudno just why the Library should be moved.

People 'up their necks' at infamous Llandudno beach as tide surged in
Visitors are being reminded that a 'little mistake' can have dire consequences

Last night (Saturday, July 12), three visitors were left marooned on a beach that’s infamous for catching out the unwary. The RNLI Conwy lifeboat crew was alerted at 9.30pm to reports of people on life raft off West Shore, Llandudno.
I remember our forum friend Norman helping to prevent something similar happening a few years ago.   Locals do know best

Llandudno councillors to attempt call-in of library building closure decision
The Mostyn Street library is set to be closed with the service relocated to Venue Cymru

Two Llandudno councillors say they will call in a decision to close the Mostyn Street library and relocate the service to Venue Cymru. Conwy ’s cabinet took the highly controversial decision last week, which will see the council target £10m of UK Government funds to regenerate the “tired” Venue Cymru into an arts centre – complete with a library extension.

The decision was made despite a public consultation finding 76% of 999 residents fearing moving the service would create access problems, with another 1,100 objectors signing a petition against the move. Backed by Mostyn Estates, businesses in the town also worried closing the library building on Mostyn Street would result in a drop in foot fall in the town centre.

North Wales landmark is one of the main 'characters' in dark, psychological thriller
Paul D Coombs has written a 'taut, psychological thriller'

A Welsh author has revealed how he has woven the plot of his debut novel around one of North Wales' most iconic landmarks. Llandudno's Great Orme is the setting for a dark, psychological thriller by Paul D. Coombs.

The novel - called The Great Orme - was described as "Agatha Christie meets Stephen King" by one reviewer. The story revolves around one man's desire - Zacharay Llewellyn - to finally confess for the murders he and his friends committed as teenagers.

My daughter, son-in-law and the two boys went to the Ironwork Centre this last weekend - they had a huge number of amazing "statues" and the day out was not expensive as seems to be the case for families at most places these days.  Well worth a visit!

'Missing' business case for Llandudno library move must be released
'It is clear that councillors believed this information would be provided when they voted to back the council's plan'

Backbench councillors have slammed a North Wales council cabinet, claiming a business plan for the relocation of a library has yet to emerge.

The row centres around the relocation of Llandudno library, from Mostyn Street to Venue Cymru as part of a multi-million-pound regeneration of the theatre funded by the UK Government.
Has Llandudno been shafted by the CCBC?

Sorry I haven't replied but I haven't had any spare time to browse the web for the last few weeks as I have been moving home...in Craig-y-Don! Where I live has no bearing on my opinion of the library. I would have thought that parking is easier to find, especially if you intend staying in the library for some time, around the Venue Cymru site. There are convenient bus stops nearby too and it's not that far to walk from the existing library either. There is an opportunity to make a better space for those that want to use the computers or those that want a silent reading room. There's also a cafe in the building that might generate some income for the council and from what I can gather moving the library in to the theatre would generate extra grant income too which would help secure the theatre's future.
I have already stated I rarely visit either the theatre or the library so it makes no difference to me where they locate it. I would like to hear some positive reasons why it shouldn't be moved though. I can't think it will make much difference to footfall in Mostyn St, it would be interesting to know what the average attendance to the library is on a daily basis.
