This is the final daily update on Covid cases, deaths and infection rates, while Public Health Wales is continuing to publish figures on weekdays, there has been a huge drop in the number of tests being carried out. This means it is now difficult to determine how the virus is affecting the region using this day-to-day snapshot.

The number of infections recorded across Wales has seen a significant drop since the end of free coronavirus testing. Free lateral flow and PCR tests are no longer issued by the Government.

Across the whole of Wales there were another 326 new coronavirus cases recorded in the 24 hours leading up to 9am on Tuesday (May 3). It means there have now been 872,824 recorded infections since the start of the pandemic.

Meanwhile there have now been 1,357 people who have died across North Wales within 28 days of a positive coronavirus test. There were another 11 deaths recorded across all of Wales, bringing the total to 7,386.

Betsi Cadwaladr as a whole: 66 new cases - total 169,308

Anglesey: 2 new cases - total 14,767
Conwy: 15 new cases - total 26,325

Flintshire: 9 new cases - total 38,970
Gwynedd: 10 new cases - total 26,899
Wrexham: 17 new cases - total 37,801

The infection rate for every 100,000 people in each area (seven days to April 29)

Anglesey: 20.0 (down from 25.7)
Conwy: 27.3 (down from 31.6)
Denbighshire: 32.4 (down from 34.5)
Flintshire: 19.2 (down from 19.9)

FOUR people died after testing positive for Covid in the latest weekly period.

It comes as heath bosses have warned of a spike in cases in the UK over the last week.

Covid-19 infections in the UK jumped by more than half a million in a week.

Experts have said figures show the rise is likely driven by the latest Omicron variants BA.4 and BA.5.

A total of 2.3 million people in private households are estimated to have had the virus last week, up 32% from a week earlier, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).

The deaths in North Wales, during the week ending June 17, occurred in Conwy (2), Denbighshire (1) and Gwynedd (1).

A total of 7,546 Covid-related deaths have been recorded across Wales since the start of the pandemic.

On North Wales they can be broken down to:

Anglesey - 153
Conwy - 319
Denbighshire - 310
Flintshire - 485
Gwynedd - 238
Wrexham - 459
The figures include anyone whose death certificate ? registered in the week ending Friday ? mentioned Covid-19 as one of the causes.

Deaths in Wales are recorded by registration date, and are allocated to the deceased's usual area of residence.

Meanwhile, health bosses have warned that the coronavirus pandemic has not gone away, after cases in Wales have risen to their highest level since April.

The latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) ? released on Friday, July 1 ? show an estimated 3.49 per cent of the Welsh population is testing positive for Covid ? or just under one in every 29 people ? in the seven days up to June 24.

This is a rise from previous week?s figure of 2.25 per cent ? or one in every 44 people in Wales.

Five out of six areas with highest Covid-19 infection rates are in North Wales

Latest coronavirus figures show North Wales has five of the six highest infection rates in Wales. According to data from Public Health Wales (PHW), cases in the region are rising but hospital admissions are at a record low.

The total number of Covid cases reported in Wales has climbed to 219,831, with 535 new positive cases, according to the latest PHW update. Figures for the seven day period up to June 28 show a significant increase across North Wales in particular.

Five of the six areas with the highest Covid cases in Wales in the week leading up to June 28 were in North Wales, according to the BBC. The local authority with the highest case rate in Wales was Flintshire with 183.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Second on the list was Wrexham with 167.7 cases per 100,000, closely followed by Denbighshire with a rate of 159.9. The counties now have rates of 100 or above, alongside, Conwy (104.1), Gwynedd (111.6) and Cardiff (120.2).

The lowest case rates are in Merthyr Tydfil (31.5), Newport (27.8 and Ceredigion (35.8 per 100,000 people. Health experts confirmed the Delta variant is the most dominant strain across Wales' 22 local authorities.

The rise has prompted Wales' chief medical officer to urge people to wear masks in crowded indoor places. Sir Frank Atherton said people should continue to follow simple steps to protect themselves from the risk of catching the virus - you can read more on the latest face mask guidance here.

Wales' case rate is 81.1 per 100,000 people, up from the 71.1 reported on July 1.

UK Covid cases continue to rise

Around 3.8m people - one in 17 of the UK population - has coronavirus, latest figures from the Office for National Statistics suggest.

That's up by a quarter of a million - 7% - on the week before when there were 3.5m Covid infections recorded.

The number of people testing positive across the UK has been rising since the start of June but the rate of rise is showing signs of slowing down.

Other, more recent figures, hint cases may be on the way down.

The ONS data is always a couple of weeks behind the curve for new infections but this big dataset gives the most accurate overview for the UK.

Covid infections on the way down again across the UK

Covid infections are on the way down in the UK, dropping by more than half a million in a week, according to Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures.

An estimated 3.2 million people had the virus in the week up to 20 July, compared to 3.8 million the week before.

Hospital cases are also decreasing.

Admissions in England of people with Covid stood at 16.3 per 100,000 people in the seven days to July 24, down from 18.2 the previous week.

There is still lots of Covid around to catch, even though the rates are declining, experts warn....WHICH IS WHY I STILL WEAR A MASK IN CROWDED AREAS

Over the peak
In the latest ONS report, for the week ending 20 July, the estimated Covid rates were:

One in 20 in England - down from one in 17 the week before
One in 19 in Wales - down from one in 17
One in 16 in Northern Ireland - up from one in 20 (although experts say the trend is uncertain)
One in 19 in Scotland - down from one in 15
Many of the recent cases have been caused by fast-spreading sub-variants of Omicron, called BA.4 and BA.5.
