There were five new deaths within 28 days of a positive Covid test nationwide reported in the latest figures today (April 8, taking the country's total to 7,212. Two more virus-related deaths were reported in North Wales today and the total since the pandemic began for the area now stands at 1,307.
The whole of Wales had 404 newly recorded positive Covid tests in Friday's (April 8 update from Public Health Wales. This means there have been 868,195 infections since the start of the pandemic in total.
Across North Wales, the largest increase was in Conwy, where there were another 21 positive test results.
Public Health Wales figures also show there have been 2,534,678 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine given out, while 2,403,946 people have been double-jabbed. There have also been 62,101 third doses given out to people considered immunocompromised while 1,945,421 people have had the booster dose.
