Publishing some stats can lead to complacency about the odds of getting the virus. The acceleration rates it's spreading are much more frightening.

I agree, Dave;  that's why I'd held off until now. But I think our members are sharp enough to know the score. And the infections figure represents only those who've been admitted to hospital;  the real figure is certainly larger, probably by a factor of 10.

10 more deaths announced
Public Health Wales has announced that a further 10 people have died in Wales after testing positive for coronavirus, bringing the total to 48.
The total number of confirmed cases is up 148 to 1241 although the true number of cases is likely to be higher.

'North Wales needs its own field hospitals'
Conservative MPs in North Wales are calling for action to ensure the region has adequate capacity to treat patients who test positive for coronavirus.

It comes after the decision to use Cardiff's Principality Stadium as a field hospital for up to 2,000 extra beds to help the NHS fight the outbreak.

Aberconwy MP Robin Millar said: "Our discussions with the chairman of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board demonstrate both he and the chief executive grasp the urgency and importance of this matter.

"We are grateful that they are driving this forward and they have called a multi-agency meeting for Monday to confirm sites, timescale, process and clear resource requirements."

Vale of Clwyd MP Dr James Davies said: "North Wales needs its own field hospitals.
"We are determined to ensure that Betsi Cadwaladr gets the support it needs to deliver this.

"The NHS is devolved in Wales, so we need to be clear what access Welsh patients will have to local facilities or whether they will need to use provision in Manchester and Birmingham."

THERE have been 13 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the North Wales region, according to the latest figures    refPioneer

Public Health Wales have stated that 13 more people have now tested positive for COVID-19 in the area covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, bringing the total number of cases to 82.

Today (Monday, March 30) also saw a further 14 deaths across Wales bringing that total up to 62.

Latest Wales coronavirus death toll confirmed

Twenty-nine more people have died of coronavirus in Wales, bringing the total number of deaths to 98 

Public Health Wales has today recorded 274 new known cases meaning there are now 1,837 in the area although the true number is likely to be much higher.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has five new cases bringing the total number to 91.

Dr Robin Howe, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: “274 new cases have tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Wales, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,837, although the true number of cases is likely to be higher.

“29 further deaths have been reported to us of people who had tested positive for Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), taking the number of deaths in Wales to 98.

A further 563 patients with coronavirus have died in the UK, taking the total number of deaths in hospitals to 2,352.

UK death toll rises to 2,921
A total of 2,921 people have now died from coronavirus in the UK, according to the Department of Health and Social Care.

In a tweet, the government department said the figure was accurate as of 17:00 BST on 1 April and covered those who had been hospitalised and tested positive for the virus.

It was also confirmed that 163,194 people had been tested as of 09:00 on 2 April, with 33,718 testing positive.

The figures for our area (Betsi Cadwalladar) seems low compared to everywhere else - is this because it hasn't got a grip here, or because very few people have been tested? ... either way, we need to stay safe.

Public Health Wales has today recorded 345 new known cases meaning there are now 2,466 in the area, although the true number is likely to be much higher.
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has 16 new cases, bringing the total number to 133.

More than 3,600 people have now died of coronavirus in the UK.
The UK death toll has risen to 3,605 after another 684 patients died in just 24 hours.

As of 1730 today, April 3rd, Covid 19 cases and deaths have begun to plateau in some European countries, including Italy and Spain, although cases and deaths continue to accelerate in the UK and the US. More people in the UK have died with coronavirus than in China, according to today’s figures from Johns Hopkins University.
