Update on last post.........

Mochdre Challenge Brekkie beats Youtuber BeardmeetsFood

An unbeaten challenge breakfast in Mochdre has claimed its first high-profile victim - Youtube eating challenge star BeardmeetsFood.

And just 24 hours after the full video of the epic attempt at Ann's Kitchen on Conwy Road went live it had attracted almost two million views.

Ann's Kitchen created the Challenge Brekkie as a bit of fun - eight rashers of bacon, eight sausages, eight black puddings, eight hash browns, eight eggs, eight slices of fried bread, eight slices of toast, sautéed potatoes, beans, tomatoes and a huge mug of tea or coffee.

It costs £30 and the rules are simple - if you finish it in 30 minutes, you get it for free.

So when Youtube food challenge star BeardmeetsFood - aka Adam Moran - heard about it he decided to drive over from Leeds to give it a go.

"He had messaged my partner Tracey asking about the breakfast but under his real name, Adam, so we had no idea that he was coming in," said Ann's Kitchen owner Paul Jones. "But when he came through the door the customers all recognised him straight away and they knew why he was here!

I'm quite happy with the breakfast I get at Talgoed Nursery in Glan Conwy but the more adventurous may like to take on the challenge at Ann's Kitchen in Mochdre.         I had a couple of walking mates that would have given it a good go

A Conwy vineyard has been named among the best in the UK.

The top 12 best vineyards in the UK have been revealed by Time Out, featuring places from all over the country including London, Dorset and South Wales.

Introducing the list, the media outlet said: "While it’s been the butt of many (mostly French) jokes for years, we Brits aren’t actually just a nation of wine drinkers – we’re pretty darn good at making the stuff, too.

"From chardonnay in Dorset and organic vinos in Kent to sparkling blushes near Cardiff, there are plenty of lovely vineyards dotted throughout the country.

Llandudno has been named in the top five places for dinning out with a dog, new data has revealed.

The list compiled by Canine Cottages was based on an analysis of Tripadvisor and Google reviews ranking the best canine culinary tourism spots.

37 per cent of dog owners have reported difficulty finding dog-friendly restaurants and cafes while on holiday.

Lake District town, Bowness-On-Windemere, ranked top with a score of 5.533 out of 6, followed by Bakewell in the Peak District (5.104).

North Wales' Llandudno came third with a score of 5.007, and they have a wide variety of 32 dog-friendly restaurants, along with several dog-friendly pubs and cafes.

Naughty seagulls pinching food spark 'eat outside at own risk' warning from North Wales tea room
The sneaky birds have been at it again in Llandudno, with customers told 'We are unable to replace food taken by seagulls'

There are at it again, this time naughty seagulls are pinching food in Llandudno. So much so that one tea room has now warned customers eating outside, they do so at their own risk, of food theft from the gulls.

The Lemon Tree has posted an "important notice" on a board outside saying they cannot replace any food stolen by sneaky seagulls. The board, which was photographed outside room, said: "Important notice. Eat outside at own risk. We are unable to replace food taken by seagulls."

Llandudno in UK’s top 10 towns for highest number of pubs..........is this a good thing ?

UK seaside towns are renowned for their amusements - especially arcade and slots entertainment, and with this in mind, the team at OLBG have created the ‘Holiday Entertainment Index’ to profile the best destinations to mark for a visit this summer.

The index considers the number of activities per location including amusements, the cost to stay there, average weather patterns, and more, using data from TripAdvisor, Google, and Kayak.

THE OWNER of a café in Llandudno has put her other eatery on the market, wishing to concentrate on the Llandudno business instead.

Green Island Bistro, on Rhuddlan High Street, was opened by Sara Turner during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since then, it has won several awards, including Café / Bistro of the Year Overall Winner at the Food Awards Wales in Cardiff earlier this year.

The restaurant also defended its title of best café/bistro in North Wales, scooping the prize for the second consecutive year.

“I am really hoping to find someone in the vegan community to take on the business in Rhuddlan and continues to run it as a vegan eatery.

Slightly away from the Three Town's area but it was nice to see Les and Rita's in Rhyl on the list.    We used to go there regularly over 50 years ago so I'm pleased that it is still going strong
The Mermaid is another one that we always go to when walking in the Barmouth area but the last time we were there the cafe section had closed and it was just a takeaway.
Frydays in Penrhyn Bay was a good cafe to go to prior to the Pandemic but now that is just a takeaway too. I remember that the fish were always superb and the batter was light and tasty.       I believe that the takeaway still has the same high standards as before

I wonder if the industry grew by volume as well as cash?
My wife and I rarely eat out in the UK, saving that delight for holidays abroad but last week it was her birthday so we went out for a change. The food was pleasant enough but not memorable or in fact anything near as good as we produce at home. Two courses (and we didn't choose the dearest mains) and a drink each came to £85 including a tip. That's a lot of money in my book and I wonder who can afford to go out on a regular basis.
