It's good to hear that the place is so busy and it'll be good for the town but it won't stop me going to the Loaf next door as the food there is delicious.       Mrs H and I always have their Scampi and chips and the service is good too

A shame that Tops Chinese Restaurant have vacated their premises in Craig Y Don due to a lease expiring. I understand that they will be reopening at another local location in a few months.

Did they ever have a place at West Shore?

Hugo will be pleased..

A restaurant in Colwyn Bay is due to hold a ?soft opening? after nine months of closure following an arson attack.

The Toad, on West Promenade, will return - with a new logo - initially on Saturday (June 24) from 7pm, before it plans to re-open fully on Friday, June 30.

It follows an incident at the pub on the morning of September 27, 2022, which left the premises requiring an entire refurbishment.

Thanks Steve, that's really good news.    I'm pleased to hear that they are opening again as the place has had to put up with a lot of obstacles over recent years and it deserves to succeed.
I'll be visiting there asap

New bubble tea restaurant is like visiting Vietnam without leaving Llandudno
Julie Richards-Williams gives her verdict on a recently-opened place that has already gained a strong following

Located near the top of Upper Mostyn Street, this super little eatery is the latest venture of Vietnamese restaurateur Hao Tran and his wife Merry, who own the popular Mediterranean Restaurant next door. On the site of the former Salt and Pepper Caf? the couple have created a culinary oasis, combining quality locally sourced Welsh produce with Asian knowhow to produce a menu that is deliciously different.

A Llandudno cafe that closed recently will reopen under a new brand. Blend was opened on Clonmel Street by Clinton Parker in 2020.But it was announced earlier this month that it was closing along with hair salon Clinton James, which Mr Parker had run for nearly 30 years.

Now though it has been revealed that the Blend site will reopen. It has been taken on by Magic Bar Live. They currently do magic shows a number of nights a week in a bar on the first floor of the The New Alexandra Hotel, based on the same street.

Chris Williams, from The Magic Bar, told North Wales Live: "Our current venue The Magic Bar Live has been based at The New Alexandra Hotel since 2019. We have welcomed lots of locals and tourists to our venue in that time and built up a reputation for being a must visit attraction in Llandudno.

A Cafe and bar in Colwyn Bay is due to return after being taken on by new owners.
Botanical Lounge, at 162 Conway Road, had shut on April 1, with the previous owner citing a ?change in my personal circumstances? as the reason for moving on.

But on Friday (June 23), it was confirmed that the venue is set for a re-opening.

A statement on its Facebook page read: We are the proud new proprietors of Botanical Lounge and we are excited to announce that we will be opening very, very soon.

We cant wait to welcome you all for breakfast, brunch and lunch and a cup of Heartland coffee.

A LLANDUDNO tearooms is to be sold for the ?right price? after 16 years under the same family.

The owners of Haulfre Tea Rooms, have said they are ?tentatively thinking? about selling on the business.

Located on the side of the Great Orme, the popular cafe offers stunning views of the town and surrounding area, and is believed to date from the 1860s

The Grade II listed property on Cwlach Road, which comes with a four bedroom apartment, has been run for the last 16 years by Diane Easter.

The property previously went on the market in 2018, but remained in Ms Easter?s hands.

In a post on social media, the business revealed they were again looking into selling, telling the Pioneer it would be for the "right price
"After 16 years we are tentatively thinking about selling on our beautiful tearooms.

"We welcome any enquiries but no time wasting."

The property is believed to have been originally built as a summer house for the tea importer, grocer and yachtsman Sir Thomas Lipton.

It was then acquired by industrial chemist and Victorian entrepreneur Henry Pochin, owner of Bodant Garden , who later sold to the whisky magnate Johnnie Walker, who in turn sold it to the world renowned orchid grower Joseph Broome who extended the garden?s terraces.

In 1929 the gardens where bought by the local authority who created a public park, opened by former Prime Minister David Lloyd George, who planted a tree.

A POPULAR Italian restaurant in Rhos-on-Sea will be known by a new name.

Known previously as La Dolce Vita Italia, on Penrhyn Avenue, it will now be known as Number 25 after the business underwent a renovation.

The restaurant said the new, slightly less exotic name is to reflect the work being done on both floors of the site.

The owners did ensure that despite the name change, the business will offer the ?same food, same great service?.

Re: Cafes, Restaurants, Pubs & Takeaways,,,,,,,,,The UK's hospitality sector
« Reply #4033 on: July 10, 2023, 10:28:44 am »
The UK's hospitality sector is still short-staffed and businesses fear they will struggle to cope over the busy summer holiday season.

It comes as former government minister George Eustice called for EU workers to be allowed into the UK to ease post-Brexit shortages.

Trade body UK Hospitality also said staffing was in "serious crisis" - with vacancies 48% higher than pre-Covid.

The government said staff could be hired under its points-based system.

Restaurateur Stephen Montgomery told the BBC he was "anxious to a degree" about the summer. He runs Our Place in Annan, near Lockerbie - he is also chair of the Scottish Hospitality Group.

"Just as we were trying to take the business from five to seven days a week, bang we lost two members of staff, both front of house," he said.

But it means he may have to cut down his opening hours. "If I have to close to make sure my staff aren't burned out, I will. Why risk losing more staff for financial gain?"
