I'm still of the opinion any cafe opening in Llandudno should market itself on traditional Welsh food and local Welsh produce.  Although there are nice cafes in town they all sell similar food.   $walesflag$

Talking/writing about cafes.  In other threads there has been mention of Sainsburys going into the old Woolworths.  Are they planning to have a cafe or restaurant inside?
The reason I ask is in the official notice on the door asking for permission to sell alcohol, there is also an application to serve refreshments between 11.00 p.m. and midnight.
This doesent make a lot of sense to me, so I am just guessing that they can put a cafe inside without needing a licence, but they need a licence to operate after 11 p.m.
Doesent make any odds to me, I doubt very much I will ever feel the need to go into a Sainsburys cafe at 11.30 at night. But I am surprised all you eagle eyed official notice readers on this forum havent queried this.

We did. $good$

Sainsburys have a Alcohol Licence application on the door of Alworths.

The application for an Alcohol Licence by Sainsburys for the former Woolies site is daily from 6am – Midnight.

There is a second application to serve refreshments from 11pm – Midnight.

What is that all about?
Their application is being dealt with by a firm of solicitors down in London who will no doubt know what they are doing.

Sorry Bri ---- I missed your post. But, what do you reckon? Do you think I'm right with my guess?

The main Licence Application is for the sale of alcohol off the premises. There is a separate application for 'late night refreshments', which is also needed if the applicant wishes to sell any hot food or drink (not necessarily alcohol) for consumption off the premises after 11pm. There will be no cafe or bar in Sainsburys and the hours stated are standard maximums, i.e. the actual opening hours will probably be less.

Dunno, Mike.

Maybe the answer lies here:

Their application is being dealt with by a firm of solicitors down in London who will no doubt know what they are doing.

Fester and I decided to go for a pint this evening in Fountains but were surprised to find it closed. Apparently, it's been closed all day with various rumours flying around.

Dave R and I were invited to the Fat Cat tonight, for a special preview tasting of the Xmas menu.  $dins$

But Dave forgot about it!  Luckily, Mrs Fester made up the numbers and we were rewarded with sample after sample of superb cuisine.  The Fat Cat is usually very good, but they have pulled out all the stops this time.
Congratulations to Steve and his team, especially the chefs Dave, Dave, and Joe.  &well&

Other businesses and groups were in attendance and I hope that Fat Cats are rewarded with a high volume of bookings based on what we had tonight.
There is a Xmas meal menu, with round five choices of starter, main and suite. (in addition to the very varied usual menu)
There is also a buffet menu, for groups of 10 or more.

As I type this I am so full, its unbearable, because I sampled everything.
The highlight for me, (amongst so many) was the crispy roast pork. Lots of hot crackling included!

Of course the Xmas menu doesn't start properly until Nov 24th, but when it does, I'll be there... numerous times.

Highly recommended.

The old Woolies has been almost completely gutted inside now, Sainsburys are not messing about.
