'Tacky' attractions and drink stalls next to historic Welsh town's castle and walls come under fire
The rides and cabins are in an event space on Conwy Quay

Tacky? attractions and drinks cabins set up in the shadow of Conwy?s 13th century castle have been criticised as unfitting for the medieval town. The refreshment stalls and children?s rides, which include an inflatable slide and a mechanical merry-go-round, are set up on the council?s event space on Conwy Quay.

But not everyone in the town is happy with the attractions, given they are so close to the castle and its walls, a World Heritage Site, which tourists travel from across the world to see. Conwy resident Richard Hughes was walking along the quay with his family when he spotted the attractions.

THE first stage of the new UK-wide BoatLife Fishing Championship will be taking place at Conwy Marina on May 17-19.

Conwy has been selected as the first location for the national catch and release competition due to its ?rich sea fishing history and stunning coastal scenery?.

Known for its diverse range of fish species, the tidal patterns of the Conwy Estuary will give seasoned professionals entering the pro competition and weekend anglers in the privateers competition the chance to show off their skills as well as compete for trophies and great prizes.

A STRAY buoy has been rescued in Conwy after it had been washed away during Storm Pierrick earlier this month.

The Conwy Fairway Buoy is normally located in the middle of Conwy Bay, marking the start of the Conwy Harbour approach channel.

It weighs about 1.5 tonnes and is fitted with large weights to help it withstand rough sea conditions.

Staff at Conwy Harbour rescued it before sending it on its way back out to sea.
