NEW promenade shelters have opened on Llandudno?s North Shore beach, with funding from Welsh Government?s Brilliant Basics Scheme.

The project replaced two of the seven shelters on North Shore Promenade, opposite the St George?s Hotel and next to the paddling pool in Craig-y-Don.

The previous shelters were in poor condition, and without action, would have been at risk of closure.

Following a design consultation with stakeholders, it was agreed that the new shelters should acknowledge the town?s heritage as a Victorian holiday resort, while simultaneously providing a modern, fit for purpose facility.

A LLANDUDNO hair salon and coffee shop will both be closing this weekend, as the owners thanked the ?great? support they had received over the years.

Clinton James Hairdressing, on Vaughan Street, and Blend, on Clonmel Street, will both be closing tomorrow (June 3) after the owners said ?all good things come to an end?.

"It is with a heavy heart that we?ve come to this decision but the reasons being is just that we just no longer have enough stylist staff to fill such a big place and meet the commitment of what it is for the outgoings we have.

A spokesperson from North Wales Police said: "Police assisted with a medical incident on The Parade in Llandudno yesterday evening (June 1).
"The road was closed whilst emergency services attended and was reopened at around 7.50pm."

Welsh Ambulance were called but were not required.
The person made their own way to hospital.

GLODDAETH AVENUE SHELTER   Gogarth newsletter
It's good to see that work is now underway on refurbishing the roof on the Gloddaeth Avenue shelter.  The shelter was refurbished some time ago, however, the new roof did not fare well in the often gale-force conditions we're used to in Llandudno.

Hopefully the repaired roof will last much longer.

THE first batch of homes at a controversial housing development will hit the market at the end of the week.

Anwyl?s Parc Bodafon, situated off Nant-y-Gamar Road, will feature 49 homes, from one-to-five bedrooms, across four-acres.

The housebuilder will also create 17 affordable homes.

Homebuyers will be able to reserve a property at the new development from June 23.

A PUBLIC meeting has been arranged regarding the possible return of sand to Llandudno?s North Shore beach.

This is due to be held at 1pm on Friday, June 30 at the town?s war memorial.

Last August, Welsh Government rejected Conwy County Borough Council (CCBC)?s proposal for funding to see sand returned to Llandudno?s North Shore beach.

According to a report published by CCBC, the Welsh Government?s Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management branch (FCERM), stated that the return of sand to North Shore ?does not appear to provide any additional flood risk management benefits?.
