Peak season daytime parking ban near Llandudno paddling pool will hit tourism

Conwy Council wants to stop drivers parking on a stretch of the promenade between May and September during the day

Parking would be effectively banned from 9am-6pm during the peak holiday season (May 1 ? September 30) on the Bodafon Field side of Colwyn Road, from the junction with Ffordd Sadwrn to the junction with Nant y Gamar Road. The council says the aim is to maintain the "free flow of traffic and improve road safety".

The seasonal restrictions follow a traffic regulation order consultation, which finished in March, and included wider proposals for the town. But Craig y Don councillor Frank Bradfield opposed the introduction of the restrictions.

Tour of Britain 2023
Tour of Britain is a multi-day race on the roads of Great Britain, and has a category UCI 2.1. The race was organized in 1945, since then its status has been constantly changing. In 2004 the race received its current category and since then it has been held regularly.

In 2023, the event will take place between September 3 to 10. Within these eight days, the racers will pass through a number of towns and cities with numerous chances for the fans to spectate and pitch up. The 16th edition of the tour is expected to be much more difficult. The competitors will start in Glasgow and finish in London as before. This year, the riders will have to pass as many as 1308.5 km. Although there are more hill stages, some of the participants predict that the route will not be much easier than last year. Only at the finishing two stages of the race, the riders will enjoy flat runs on the contrast to other hilly stages.

List of stages
Stage   Type   Date   Course   Distance
1   Flat   5 September   Penzance ? Bodmin   180.8 km
2   Hilly   6 September   Sherford ? Exeter   183.9 km

Something doesn't seem right there!

Website says event runs from 3 to 10 September, but the stage list runs from 5 to 12.

Website says start Glasgow and finish London ... but the stages suggest it's more like Land's End to John O'Groats.

The site linked to seems to be for the 2021 run. Beneath the heading

Tour of Britain 2023 Stages and Routes

It then has

Tour of Britain 2021  Challenging Parts

and it seems to refer to the upcoming race as the 2021 race.  Very odd.

It was the first picture of CAVENDISH in his current team kit that gave it away......Astana do not compete in the Tour of  Britain. The list of teams to win....that was just as laughable.....Team Sky changed in 2019 to Ineos and most of the other teams have changed sponsors!

Scammers and scams are operating at a level not seen for a while. If you get a suspicious email, send it to
report@phishing.gov.uk

Above all, don't ever, ever click on a link in an email you weren't expecting.

We've had two, persistent scam emails this week. The first was blank, other than the header and the second was more detailed:

(Note the bad grammar of the detailed scam.)

UK chain boosts Llandudno economy as moves training academy to seaside town
Boots Hearingcare has created jobs in the resort and also brought a raft of trainees who stay in the town

Boots Hearingcare has provided a jobs and economic boost to a North Wales town after moving its training academy to the region. The brand already had a support team based in Llandudno but has now added a training centre after relocating it from Aston in Birmingham.

This has added additional jobs at offices above the Victoria Centre - which had previously been occupied by the local authority. The additional benefit is that trainees stay in Llandudno during training - putting money into hotels, shops and restaurants, particularly important during the quieter months in the resort.

Re: What's Llandudno Like Right Now?.......Parade and RAF flypast
« Reply #8924 on: June 30, 2023, 11:03:14 am »
THERE will be a parade through Llandudno to mark the granting of the Honorary Freedom of the Town on the Royal Air Force Valley by Llandudno Town Council.

The Freedom was granted in 1995 in recognition of the RAF Valley?s service to their Country and this is the first Parade held for a number of years. The Parade will be led by the Band of the RAF College Cranwell.

The Parade will form up outside Llandudno Town Hall at 10.45am on Sunday, July 9.

It is expected to march off at approximately 11.20am following an inspection of the parade by the Commanding Officer RAF Valley, Group Captain Matt Hoare MA RAF; the mayor of Llandudno, Cllr Greg J T Robbins; and the Lord Lieutenant of Clwyd, H G Fetherstonhaugh OBE DL.

The parade will also feature a fly past at 11am by two Hawk aircraft.

Cllr Robbins said: ?It is a privilege and a pleasure to welcome the RAF back to Llandudno. Our relationship with RAF Valley has always been strong and this Freedom Parade allows the people of the town to show their appreciation for the work carried out by the RAF, especially in these turbulent times.?
