Llandudno seafront hotel secures green light for revamp
The resort hotel has been closed for over two years

A Llandudno hotel that has been shut for over two years can now be revamped. St Kilda Hotel is a large property in a prominent position on the town's North Shore.

The site was bought by the Inn Collection Group(ICG) but it has been closed since 2022 ahead of a planned investment. ICG submitted proposals earlier this year to refurbish and reopen the site.

A PROMINENT Betws-y-Coed undergoing a full-scale revamp will welcome back guests from early next year.

The Swallow Falls Inn, formerly The Swallow Falls Hotel, will re-open its doors for the first time in three years on Friday, February 28.

It is currently undergoing a multi-million-pound refurbishment by its new Newcastle-based owners The Inn Collection Group.

Since beginning in February 2024, works undertaken so far include the forming of new bedrooms in the main building, old Youth Hostel Association building and the former tavern.

From the Manchester Evening News..............

Hotel in popular holiday hotspot makes change that some people are furious with
There are certainly those in favour but also some very strong objections raised in response to the Facebook post

An iconic hotel in a popular seaside holiday hotspot has caused controversy with its new policy.

Llandudno's iconic St George's Hotel has stirred up mixed reactions after saying it would allow dogs to stay in select rooms during the winter months. Despite the welcome this move has received from couples and families eager to vacation with their pets at the renowned Queen of Welsh Resorts, the decision hasn't been universally praised.

Over 300 responses poured in on social media with opinions starkly split. North Wales Live reported the hotel didn't quite foresee the intense debate.

Commenting on Facebook, Angela Jane remarked: "That's a shame, we love dogs but not in hotel rooms...our dogs were not allowed in our own bedrooms at home so why would we want them in our hotel rooms."......................https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news/hotel-popular-holiday-hotspot-makes-30250190?IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589

A SEAFRONT hotel in Llandudno will undergo an extension which will see the creation of an additional dining room and bar area.

Hotel No 5, on the promenade, will see a rear extension for an extra dining room and bar area with an atrium and a new escape staircase.

Owner Hayley Coughlin’s proposal has been approved by the council, and the work will encompass:................https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/24692252.llandudno-seafront-hotels-extension-plans-given-green-light/

A bed and breakfast in a Gothic style listed building has been put up for sale. The Ffarm is a well-established boutique bed and breakfast in a Betws-yn-Rhos property that dates back to 1706.

It is being offered for sale as a "strong going concern" with a solid trading performance and excellent guest reviews. There are nine guest bedrooms within the main building, plus an additional self-catering flat with its own separate access to the rear of the hotel, and owner's accommodation...https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/gothic-style-bed-breakfast-rural-30361567

A HOTEL in Llandudno which closed four years ago and has been vacant ever since will undergo a major refurbishment ahead of its reopening.

The Queens Lodge, at 5 Clonmel Street, closed in 2020 with the failure of the business not helped by the “poor” condition it was in.

But the hotel is already undergoing a renovation, having been snapped up by hotel operating chain Everbright Hotels, which owns the Queen’s Hotel across the road.

Refurbishment plans submitted to Conwy County Borough Council have been approved, and will see the façade upgraded, the replacement of windows and doors, the addition of a lift, internal refurbishment, and the repair of damaged and dated elements including the roof.

That’s very good Hugo.    That’s one of the best hotels here.  If not the best.

A DERELICT former hotel in Llandudno which is undergoing a massive redevelopment to become an aparthotel expects to welcome guests early next year.
Previously The Woodlands Hotel, 47-49 Trinity Avenue was bought by Chester-based entrepreneur Dave Goodfellow for £225,000 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Refurbishment work at the site started last year, with more than £1million spent on bringing the property back up to scratch.

The hotel will be composed of 10 apartments, made up of a mixture of studio, one bedroom- and two bedroom spaces.

PLANS to convert a Llandudno guesthouse into an aparthotel have been rejected, after the town council labelled the proposal “disingenuous”.
Wedgwood Hotel, at 6 Deganwy Avenue, would have been converted into an aparthotel, with Kidderminster-based applicant Tom Deacon, of Effective Stays Ltd, also proposing the hotel’s refurbishment and modernisation.

The latter proposal was granted, with the establishment to see the construction of a hip to gable roof, an entrance canopy, and a rear dormer.

Today was the day that I've been looking forward to, Christmas lunch at the Tynedale Hotel in Llandudno.    The hotel is very impressive from the outside  but is equally impressive the moment you step into the building.     It's so nice that I wouldn't mind having a holiday there even though I live in the area.
The lunch was excellent and the staff were brilliant too.     I hope that Mrs H's art group go there again next Christmas and that I'm invited again        ;D
It was exactly as you described Norman so thanks for that posting

Re above ..... another wasted government grant..........
The hotel and surf lagoon have been backed by £8m of Welsh Government funding

MORE THAN £5million will be spent in refurbishing Llandudno’s Grand Hotel, as more work is planned to be undertaken at the landmark.
In September, the owner of the hotel, Britannia Hotels, disclosed that £3million would be spent on exterior work, set to commence in March.

This follows the £2.3million already spent on upgrading the hotel’s heating system, which has been completed along with the refurbishment of its ballroom.

The refurbishment of the hotel’s 170 bedrooms remains ongoing............ https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/24830669.5million-invested-grand-hotel-refurb/?ref=rss&IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589

Hugo, Some good news for a change, especially the Hilton with new owners, that could have ended up a disaster for the area.
