Public Health Wales figures released on Thursday (October 28) show that 511 new cases have been confirmed in the two counties in the latest 24-hour period.

Anglesey - 47
Conwy - 61
Denbigshire - 67
Flintshire - 134
Gwynedd - 106
Wrexham - 96

Despite the number of daily cases in the region remaining high, the number of people being treated in North Wales hospitals for Covid-19 remains relatively low.

As of October 17, there were 85 people being treated for the virus in the region's hospitals - making roughly 4 per cent of all hospital inpatients.

This is compared to the 250-330 that were being treated in North Wales hospitals during the peak of the virus last winter.

Sadly, a further 12 people who had tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 28 days died in Wales in the latest 24-hour period.

They track published studies, Fester;  which are peer-reviewed, mostly by peers looking to disprove them :)

It’s all very confusing, because the BBC Health Correspondent just said, ... ‘If you are vaccinated you have a much reduced chance of catching Covid,  but if you DO catch it, you are still as infectious as if you are unvaccinated’
It does make me scratch my bald head.

Yes;  I saw that and was thinking probably much as you were. But I also didn't fail to notice that the reporter skimmed over one very important fact:

"Of course, if you've been double vaccinated you're far less likely to catch it, anyway..."

but I suspect the thrust of the report (which, as usual, wasn't emphasised enough) is that the virus is mainly infecting the unvaccinated. And all this misses the point, which is simply that it's not Covid that kills you, but your own immune response to the virus.

More depressingly the world is now nudging the five million deaths mark.  And they represent only reported deaths; the Economist and Lancet estimate the true total is probably nearer fifteen million.

... and in that same 20 month period, something like 30 million people have died globally, from smoking related diseases.
I would very much like the authorities in this world to go to the same extremes to prevent that from happening.  Banning smoking, stopping production, etc...etc....
If the governments of this world are so keen to protect us, then let’s turn our attention to this one!

Not quite; smoking is still No. 2 in the death stakes, with this from the WHO:

"Tobacco kills up to half of its users.
Tobacco kills more than 8 million people each year. More than 7 million of those deaths are the result of direct tobacco use while around 1.2 million are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke."

But yes, In principle, I agree.

Every day we are given new numbers ... sad thought it is, the numbers don't seem to tell us one important, in my opinion, facts.

How many of the daily new cases have been to somewhere crowded, such as a sporting event, concert or crowded shopping preecincts?

Surely that information would give a good clue as to where the problems arise, then action could possibly taken to close down those sort of events.

But I suppose the media is for more concerned in sensationalising big numbers.

A graph from yesterday's ZOE update  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hc7A1bVuSJU&t=433s  showing the age breakdown, it shows expected high numbers in the education age range, but then jumps over the 18/35 group to the 35/55 age group, which was surprising, then shows the older group, perhaps less gadding about, or just being more careful. ?

DVT   it would be interesting to know exactly how many of the new Covid cases recorded have not had the vaccine.    Also of the number of cases admitted to hospital are also not vaccinated.
People who do not want the vaccine are either selfish or stupid or a combination of both

Last night I was having a drink with my brothers and was told about a young local man who was fit, strong and healthy and he refused to get a vaccine jab because "he didn't need it"
Today he's in ICU in Glan Clwyd Hospital

I'll agree with all that and apart from the health aspect, smoking is a filthy and disgusting habit.     For so many years non smokers have had to put up with people smoking in public places including work so when smoking was banned in public places it was a good thing for everyone

Public Health Wales figures released on Monday (November 1) show that 855 new cases were confirmed in the region in the 48-hour period between 9am on Friday and 9am on Sunday.

Data released Mondays covers a 48-hour period, instead of the usual 24-hour period seen in data released for the rest of the week. This means there are likely to be double the number of cases confirmed on Mondays than usually seen.

Anglesey - 80
Conwy - 116
Denbighshire - 125
Flintshire - 164
Gwynedd - 179
Wrexham - 191

As of October 24, there were 74 people being treated for Covid-19 in North Wales hospitals - making up roughly 3 per cent of all inpatients.

In mid-September, the number of Covid patients at North Wales hospitals grew to 156 - meaning the number has fallen sharply since.

For context, the peak of the second wave of the virus saw over 300 people being treated for Covid-19 in North Wales hospitals.

Sadly, a further 17 people who tested Covid positive in the last 28 days died in Wales in the 48-hour period between Friday and Sunday.
