Almost 500 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in North Wales, according to the latest official figures. Statistics from Public Health Wales published on Thursday (March 17) show that the number of people to die with Covid-19 in North Wales since the start of the coronavirus pandemic remains at 1,261.
Meanwhile, seven further deaths have been reported nationwide. A further 471 cases were reported in North Wales in today's figures, taking the number of recorded infections across the region to 161,454. Today's update covers the 24-hour period up to 9am on Wednesday.
Across the country, 2,261 new cases were reported. It takes the total number of recorded infections since the start of the pandemic in Wales to 835,770, while 7,058 people have now died.
There have now been 2,524,176 first doses of the coronavirus vaccine given out in Wales, while 2,394,614 people have been double-jabbed. Additionally, 61,725 people have been given a third dose.
The figures also show that 1,926,653 people have had a booster. Boosters and third doses are recorded separately, with the third dose given to those who are considered immunosuppressed.
