Friends of West Shore news
Just a quick note to remind everyone that we have our regular bi-monthly public meeting at the Lilly on Westshore this coming Monday at 7pm (7th August). Why not come along and discuss issues, join in the debate, or just enjoy a talk by someone interesting locally (this coming Monday's guest is the local PCSO) and generally just engage or socialise with local people (and enjoy a drink at the Lilly while

A message on the FOWS FB page............

the torrential rain last night and this morning has resulted in an unpleasant overflow of contaminated water on the area by the boating lake and in the lake (use your imagination) and I suggest not allowing children, dogs etc. to stray into that area. Welsh Water have been quick to arrive on scene and appear to be dealing with it now

And on a lighter note.........

A HAPPY couple got married on Llandudno?s West Shore beach on the weekend, surrounded by friends and their dogs, and with a performance from ?Elvis?.

The couple, who are both members of the Friends of the West Shore community group, added: ?Thank you all for your patience while we got married on the far beach which allows dogs on.

After reading an article in the Daily Post today,  I looked at the West Shore web cam and it looked like the car park was flooded but it may have been an optical illusion due to all the water on the camera's lens.     Did anyone go near the cafe this morning and notice the flood water?

I checked the camera yesterday afternoon, no flooding at that time.

Thanks Steve, I did check it myself later in the afternoon and there looked like puddles in the unmade part of the car park but if it had of been flooded I would have expected more water lying on that rough ground
When I looked at it in the morning the camera lens must have been covered in rain water, a bit like it was this morning.

Now this is more like a flood in West Shore

White blocks fatal to dogs wash up on West Shore beach

The blocks, which were spotted by residents on Tuesday (September 26), are palm oil bergs.

If eaten by a dog, palm oil can cause sickness, diarrhoea and dehydration, and could be fatal.

That's interesting Spotty Dog, do you mean the old Penmorfa Hotel that was previously called the Gogarth Abbey Hotel?

Anwyl paid over 2 million for the hotel and grounds in about 2006 and the company made a few planning applications but did no construction work so I think that the last planning application expired in 2013 for 28 apartments.    They did tout around with a building that looked like something from Legoland that had about 54 apartments but they never submitted a planning application for that monstrosity.

Like you say it will take a lot to get back that type of money without a large development, but it's about time something was done about that eyesore

I found this on Google but don't know when it was put on line.     2,250,000 pounds seems a lot for a leasehold piece of land even if the lease is for 900 years.
No guesses for who the freeholder is but I don't suppose that it's Anwyl Construction

Sand from Llandudno's West Shore Beach 'blocking paths' and creating 'look of neglect'
People living near the beach have submitted a petition calling on the council to do more to manage the sand

This isn't a new issue, it's been going on since 1993 but hopefully CCBC will do something about it now

One point not mentioned, is the sand also blocks roadside drains causing flooding, I have complained for years, but they only clear them when they flood, bearing in mind the recent story..........

Is this the type of problem Steve?         Don't the Town Councillors see the problem and after all one of them lives on the front?

This is what me need, admittedly difficult in summer with busy parking, however plenty of time before the rains arrive, so no excuse really.  :(
