That's interesting Spotty Dog, do you mean the old Penmorfa Hotel that was previously called the Gogarth Abbey Hotel
That's correct Hugo I know someone who put in an offer very close to the asking price only to be told it was sold over the ?2 .2 million.

Thanks very much for that info Spotty Dog,  I think Anwyl has done itself a favour by off loading that site for that amount of money.   A forum member very kindly pointed out something that I hadn't looked at in the link I had previously posted and it's an eye opener.
To see it, firstly  open the link below and click on the box additional links, then click on current brochure and you'll see what looks like a concrete block of 45 apartments from the pre Soviet era.
I don't know what looks the worst them or the 54 Lego apartments that Anwyl touted some years ago
Why didn't they build the 28 apartments that they applied for and got permission for as they looked good and fitted into the surroundings
https://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/commercial/details/64721087/

By the way does anyone know whether the houses Anwyl Construction are building in the Parc Bodafon estate are being sold freehold or leasehold?

I find it very odd Hugo they are freehold.,    Don?t know what?s going on about the gogarth site another underhand going on,  they have put planning in for 54 flats on the old pavilion site,, looking on one planning app.  Whose name is it under. 🤔. No not Adam Williams but his mates from Anwyl.

You are probably right on Anwyl's houses on Parc Bodnant not being freehold but I'd like to know for certain.   I've had a look at the brochure but can't see anything that says whether the houses are freehold or leasehold.    Leasehold on new houses is like feudalism in the middle ages and there should be no place for it in modern day UK

Where did you see that info on the Pier Pavilion, that sounds like a similar number of apartments that Alan Waldron applied for?

Have a look on right move for the ones on bodafon see if you think the are affordable 😳.   The pavilion is on CCBC planning page,  it shows Anwyl on the Welsh edition.

Norman,   I've had a look on the Welsh version of the planning application but can't see any reference to Anwyl Construction.      Are you referring to Annwyl Caulmert Ltd which is an agency acting on behalf of the applicant Adam Williams.
Annwyl means Dear in English and is the usual way of replying to people.     Whereas ANWYL  means expensive when it comes to property and Parc Bodafon has no affordable houses for first time local people.
I feel sorry for the people living in the apartments next door to the Penmorfa bomb site, it must be a worry for them with the possibility of an ugly development being built on the Penmorfa land

It's that time of year again and our annual fundraiser calendar is now available for sale.  This year we are breaking new ground and we have done a joint calendar with St David's Hospice and will be splitting the proceeds of the sale of with them.

We have somehow managed to keep the price the same as the previous 3 years at ?6.00 per calendar and ?10.00 for joint calendar and annual FOWS membership. We are delighted with the quality of the calendar and photos this year, all of which have been donated by Carol Thorne, who does all the photo greetings cards for the Hospice.

We will be selling them as usual from the Tram Shelter every Saturday morning up until Christmas between 10am and Noon, starting tomorrow. You can also buy raffle tickets at the same time if you're feeling generous.

They will also be available from the Georgian House at the end of West Shore prom (ring the bell) and Howard Wayne Salon (58 Alexandra Road, Llandudno) and Jo and I will have a few at our house as well if you grab us on a dog walk!

Conwy half marathon runners passing through as I post, in very wet weather......  :(

The route runs along the road adjacent to the Conwy River as it proceeds towards Deganwy and the West Shore Llandudno, from there it goes along church Walks towards Llandudno Pier, then around the Great Orme taking in views of the Isle of Anglesey, Puffin Island and the surrounding North Wales coastline, then back to Conwy and the finish line.

A friend of mine always does this particular race and yesterday he parked his car in Llandudno Junction ready to walk over to Conwy for the start of the race.
When he got out of the car the rain was lashing down and he got absolutely drenched within a few minutes so he just got back in his car and headed home.    I don't blame him either as the thought of running around the Great Orme would have put many people off

Re: West Shore Issues.............Hundreds of logs that appear
« Reply #1376 on: February 16, 2024, 10:07:23 am »
The appearance of more than 200 logs on a Conwy beachfront left curious bypassers ?stumped?. Initially they were piled up and covered by tarpaulins but they?ve since been lined up in a neat grid at Llandudno?s West Shore Beach.

When photos were shared on social media seeking explanations, one man shuddered at a scene that ?looks like a mass graveyard in a movie?. A woman thought the logs has been lined up for an axe-cutting competition.

In fact, the truth is almost as strange. A famous public art project initially staged in New York, USA, is being recreated for the first time in almost half a century. Llandudno?s Oriel Mostyn Gallery is restaging a work by US artist Rosemarie Castoro that was originally displayed in the shadow of the former twin towers of Manhattan?s World Trade Center.

There were logs floating on the West Shore when I used to go there swimming sixty years ago,  but they weren't wooden ones!       :o

From The Friends of West Shore FB pages...............

First proper Monday session of the year ( the weather until now has been so bad). A good turnout, and chance was taken to replace the old boat by the play park and also begin reseeding some of ravaged areas on the green, plus the usual litter picking.
more photos on their FB site........
