We used to live in The Valley of the White Horse (er indoors was brought up in Wantage), a lovely area, mind you it will cost a lot more for a good property!

Memories of all the Aldermaston Marches came back when I saw Wantage!
Lambourn is a lovely Town (village) with all the essentials for living but is close enough to Hungerford and Swindon if one wants to go to the bigger shops and stores.  My Daughter actually lives in Lambourn and sent us the details so we would not be without help to settle in and find our way round.   We have been there a number of times already so are fairly familiar with the area.

As for prices they are quite reasonable and no worse than Llandudno, in fact I think we would have a few bob change if we sold and moved!  No decision yet so we'll have to wait and see.    ;)

Just had a quick look and it looks quite good.   The Parish only has about 4000 people (and twice as many horses I suspect) and this is an extract from the blurb about the Parish Council.

The Parish Council has Committees and Advisory Committees, each meeting approximately quarterly. Contractors are employed to maintain the cemeteries and churchyards and the Memorial Hall, a part-time Clerk for 20 hours a week, an Assistant Clerk for 15 hours a week,  as well as a Litter Picker who keeps the Parish Council owned public spaces clean and a Caretaker for the Memorial hall and Public Convenience.  The parish Council has to work closely with the West Berkshire District Council who provide many of the services for the village of Lambourn.

It would appear that they are more active than the Llandudno lot!    _))*

We have just had some UPVC cladding work on the dormers to the front and rear of the house. The work was undertaken by RHI (Reid Home Improvements) a local firm from Llanrhos (01492 338909). On the basis of the way they carried out our work, their attitude to delivering a quality product  and the end result I can heartily recommend them to all the members of the forum requiring any building work.

Always good to hear about a good local business. Do they carry out general building work as well?

Yes. Although they hadn't at that stage done a lot of UPVC cladding work  we were offered reference sites from a few different types of work they had carried out. We followed up a few of those before taking them on. They've also got a website www.rhimprovements.co.uk

Anyone know where I can buy good quality Frogs Legs and Edible Snails in the Three Towns.  Frozen or fresh.  Snails either in shell or loose.    :P

I would like to start a small snail farm for our own use but can't seem to find a starter kit anywhere.    :D

Going back a good few years Yorkie, there was a commercial snail farm on Dinerth Road in Rhos/Colwyn Bay.  I believe it was a very successful enterprise and they even exported snails to France!  I have no idea if it is still there.

I'll ask the wife as she lived in Dinerth Road with her parents - few years ago though!   I make some enquiries, many thanks.   :D

It was probably in the mid eighties when I remember it.

Its not every day that you need any wrought-iron or steelwork, such as gates or railings... but if anyone does, then I have to give a special mention to David Williams Ltd, Builder Street, Llandudno.

It is well known to some Forum members how badly I have been let down by several so called 'builders' during the course of this year. But now, due to ''HE who knows all things in Llandudno'', I have some really great guys on the job, finishing the project off properly.
None more so than David Williams Ltd.

I needed a Juliet Balcony, designing from scratch, making and then installing.
Gareth arrived the same day as my enquiry, took basic measurements, and emailed me some designs within 24 hours.
I liked the quote, and from that moment it was less than a week to get the thing made and expertly installed.

I'm delighted with the product, service and price... and I can 100% recommend this company to all Forum members.

Thanks to Moira, Gareth and all at David Williams Ltd.

Note..There will be feedback and hopefully recommendations posted on this Forum for the other tradesmen working on my extension project, just as soon as each element of the job is completed.
