I was sorry to hear that you had been let down badly by builders Fester but glad to know that Brian's recommendations are helping you out now.
Last December when the weather was freezing hard our Central Heating boiler conked out and we were badly let down by a plumber and to add insult to injury he was a close relation.  Although we never took you up on it, we very much appreciated your kind and genuine offer of a loan of your Halogen heater.   $thanx$
At Christmas time a friend recommended someone who he said was an excellent tradesman, very reliable and very reasonable with his prices.
Well he was certainly two out of the three qualities but we were so cold and desperate by that time that I did something I never do normally and that is to not get an estimate beforehand.  It's an awful feeling to be let down by a builder but then to be mugged afterwards is a double whammy!
It'll never happen to me again as I had 4 estimates for our most recent renovation and won't recommend anyone unless they meet all the criteria needed.
I hope all goes well with your workmen and look forward to hear about any recommendations as I'll need tradesmen in the future.

Thanks Hugo, and yes I have learned harsh and costly lessons this year.

I have learned to do a lot for myself too!

But in terms of recommendations, I would only make a recommendation AFTER all work is done, tested, and paid for.
Until then, you are never QUITE sure are you?

On the face of it, that is a fantastic service...

If it does what it says, I shall wait 13 more years before having any work done again, to ensure I qualify!

CARPETS AND FLOOR COVERING

As my house extension project nears its end, I was in the market for several carpets.
After purchasing them from Carpetright, I then remembered a guy I first had dealings with over 5 years ago.

Steve Williams,  (S.Williams Carpets)
He is on 07737 669976
Or..  swilliamscarpets@hotmail.com

I asked Carpetright to nominate him for the fitting, as I had received such great service back then.
True to form Steve did a fantastic job, at excellent rates...
He is extremely thorough, neat and tidy... and a thoroughly decent guy too.
I have no hesitation in recommending Steve Williams to anyone on the Forum who needs new carpets.

Everyone needs electrical work doing at some point.
Recently, I needed a lot of it doing, as part of my house extension... and I needed some one who could put right a lot of poor quality work by previous tradesmen.
It involved a full trace and inspect of the house wiring, new sockets, lighting etc... Also the full test and certification required for insurance purposes.

ANDY BOYLE ELECTRICAL were recommended to me, by 2 very good friends of mine..(Brian Thomas and our very own Dave R)
I have to say that the work (which has now been completed) was first class.
Andy himself is very calm and methodical, whereas other tradesmen had caused panic, Andy simply gets the job done very efficiently.
Also working for Andy are Steve Byrne and Anthony, two very skillful and good natured guys.

So, I have been delighted with every aspect of the work done by BOYLE ELECTRICAL, and I would be pleased to recommend them to any Forum member for any job, no matter how big or small.

You can reach Andy on 07767 426162    or  boylea3@gmail.com

We found a nice little Antique / collectors shop yesterday, good prices and he seems a good chap running it too!
It's called Trinity Trove  at 6 Trinity Avenue near to the railway station.
