A £2.1bn plan to overhaul north Wales' railway network has been unveiled by Welsh Transport Secretary Ken Skates, but with no funding commitment from the UK government so far.

The proposals include more services, the introduction of pay-as-you-go "tap in tap out" technology, electrification of lines and a Metro-style service linking Wrexham and Liverpool.

Ceremony marks the start of work on 54 new homes in Anglesey

The development will consist of 20 one-bed personal access apartments, 10 two-bed homes, 12 three-bed homes, six four-bed homes, four two-bed bungalows, and two wheelchair-adapted bungalows.

All properties will feature air source heat pumps and solar-electricity panels, and will be positioned to maximise solar gain and natural daylight.
Councillor Robin Wyn Williams was also in attendance and said: "This housing project for 54 new affordable homes in Holyhead forms part of the Isle of Anglesey County Council’s commitment to meeting local housing needs and supporting local people to live in affordable quality homes in their own communities.

Beach hut on market for same price as a terraced house in Gwynedd
The stretch of sand in North Wales is prime real estate

A beach hut on an exclusive stretch of sand is on the market for the same price as an average terraced house. The shack on Abersoch's Porth Mawr only measures 12ft by 10ft internally, with its total floorspace extended by a balcony area.

You also can't stay overnight in the corrugated metal hut, with it primarily for changing or to get out the sun - or other elements - on the popular beach.
