Iconic Pete's Eats in Llanberis to reopen this weekend and legendary item is staying on the menu
The cafe in Eryri National Park dates back to the 1970s

When we used to walk in the mountains it was always our tradition to go to Pete's Eats before the start of the walk.      A big breakfast and a "pint" of tea seemed a good idea at the time.      That was until I walked from Nant Peris to Elidir Fawr for the first time and that nearly finished me off.     Ever since that time I've carried the food in my rucksack and had a meal when we've got to the summit.

The 'dragon's teeth' and 'pillboxes' that dot North Wales and why they were put there
Eryri National Park and the coastline of north west Wales was once prepared for an invasionk

Don't forget that if you visit Black Rock Sands motorists have been caught out by the soft sand on the beach

I remember well playing in the Gun Sites on the Little Orme as kids. Great fun!

Enjoying the seaside just became more costly at popular North Wales resort
Parking charges have been introduced for the first time at a car park offering stunning coastal views

Charging was this week introduced at a popular seaside car park that's been free to use for decades. It follows the much-delayed upgrade of Llanfairfechan’s seafront facility in Conwy.

Already there are concerns drivers will start parking instead on surrounding residential streets. And despite a ban on overnight parking by motorhomes and campervans, it’s feared some visitors may bank on a lack of enforcement and risk fines of £50 to £70 to take advantage of the prime seaside spot.

'Truly astonishing Alpine peak' in North Wales where visitors react the same way
It's an odd-looking lump of rock that dominates a beautiful valley

There is a very interesting walk near there in Abergynolwyn that featured in the Weatherman Walking series. well worth doing if you are in that area

I've just attached a link to show the many interesting things to see on this walk.     We did it a few years ago and it was well worth the effort of travelling down there

'I climbed Yr Wyddfa and was fuming with what I found at top'
Hettie took to TikTok to complain about her ordeal after climbing Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon branding it a 'p*** take' – but people weren't very sympathetic towards her

If the woman didn't know that there was a train that goes up to the summit of Snowdon then she hadn't done her homework.   The mountain doesn't need the likes of sweaty Hettie and other ill prepared people walking up it

we were hoping for a walk in Betws Y Coed but the weather wasn't good so we had a look around the shops before having a nice meal in a hotel there.
Fish Chips & Peas plus a drink for £12.00 was very good value.
The river was in full flood and the weather forecast is for flooding in parts of Gwynedd and Anglesey

For the next three nights there are also unusually high tides, as well. Those, plus the rain, could make life interesting...
