The North Wales seaside town with a stunning beach and hardly any tourists out of season
Nefyn in Gwynedd is a great place if you want to escape the rigours of everyday life and enjoy some peace and quiet.     It is a pretty Welsh village with a lovely sandy beach and a good golf course nearby.     There were concerns  with residents in recent years about people buying second homes in the area and turning the village into another Abersoch

Underrated North Wales seaside resort that's ideal for a winter visit
It's a place that combines sea air with history, nature and stunning landscapes

It's also a starting point for a number of nice walks

Storm Ashley caused 'substantial damage' to sea defences due to be abandoned in 30 years
Subsequent repairs have part obscured the village's famous 'Dragon's teeth'

Ye sterday would have been my Father's 100th birthday so I went along to the Llanrhos Lawn Cemetery to pay my respects.    Afterwards I walked to the old Church and through the old  cemetery.
Walking past the dozens of graves two stood out for me.   The Mostyn Family's graves which are  within an enclosure with ornate metal fencing and the other is a headstone for "Betty"
What a contrast as poor Betty was a pauper and described as a wandering lunatic.       Her headstone was erected out of the kindness of local people who contributed  money for the burial and headstone.        Whatever happens during our life time the only certainty is that we all end in the same place
While I was in the area I popped over the road and had a look at the Holy Well of St Mary's across the road and it looked like it had been well tendered

Family has lived in the middle of a busy Welsh roundabout for decades
The Howatsons refused to move when plans for a new road were confirmed - so a roundabout was built around them
It's a good job the Howatsons like living on the traffic island just outside Denbigh as I can't imagine many people wanting to buy the house if it ever came up for sale

Archaeologist sheds light on Neolithic sites
Neolithic tomb
The most famous Neolithic tomb site in Wales is Bryn Celli Ddu on Anglesey.

Located in a field at Llanddaniel Fab, and dated to around 3000BC, it is a site where people still gather for ceremonies today.

Bryn Celli Ddu or ‘Mound in the Dark Grove’ is the place where on the Summer Solstice a beam of sunlight is cast down the tomb’s passage illuminating the chamber inside.         I did go there one Summer and as I entered the chamber I was greeted by a man with long flowing white hair and a beard and was dressed in a red robe  (no it wasn't Father Christmas. he was a Druid ) and there were five women with him.    I realised that I was intruding on their ceremony and made a quick exit

'I climbed 115 steps up historic North Wales monument and it was well worth it'
The Marquess of Anglesey's Column honours a military hero and has its own extraordinary history

Tellytubby,  Rhuddlan and I were oone of the last people to go up to the top of the Column before they closed it on safety grounds.    The staircase is quite narrow but the effort to get up to the top and see all those stunning views is well worth the effort.     They didn't have the cafe and visitors centre when we went up the column so we'll have to go back again and have a coffee and cake after walking up the column

The fairytale waterfall with mysterious cave in 'almost untouched' Eryri gorge
It has a very large plunge pool with clear but dark waters

'Morfa Nefyn is changing. There's a danger it could turn into another Abersoch'
An affordable homes plan has been approved amid concerns 'there are less and less homes for local people

Plans for nine houses to meet an "urgent need" for affordable homes in the Pen Llŷn area have been approved. Cyngor Gwynedd 's planning committee approved the council's Tŷ Gwynedd scheme on land at Maes Twnti, Morfa Nefyn, during a meeting on Monday, January 13.   Perhaps the " urgent need"  should stipulate that they are only for people living in the local area?
