WORK ON four new shelters on Rhos-on-Sea promenade will commence this week, the council has confirmed.

Four new shelters will be built on the seafront, including features such as solar-powered lighting and wheelchair and mobility scooter accessibility.

They will replace the previous shelters (some of which have been demolished), which the local authority said had a "closed design" and described as "deteriorating".

The council added that the old shelters had lead to an increase in anti-social behaviour......I don't think this design will stop bad behaviour, makes me wonder if seating alone would be the answer, and a lot cheaper in building and maintenance, time for the council to start prioritising projects

THE POST OFFICE branch in Rhos-on-Sea will move to a new location, following a public consultation.

A proposed move was brought about by the retirement of the subpostmasters of the Penrhyn Avenue branch, Sue and Dean, earlier this year.

The couple’s decision had left the site “no longer available” for Post Office use.

A public consultation was set up for plans to move the branch to Go Local, at 106-106A Penrhyn Avenue.

This move has now been confirmed by The Post Office, which had previously said the new site was “undergoing a refurbishment and the shop would change to a Premier Store.”

A NURSING home in Rhos-on-Sea could be extended, under new plans submitted by the owners.

Plas Y Bryn Nursing Home, at Tan-Y-Bryn Road, could see the extension of its ground and first floors to accommodate two new bedrooms on each level, a dayroom extension and an adjoining external terrace.

The additional bedrooms would have en-suite facilities with views of the coastline, a planning supporting statement said.

Built by Liverpool sugar farmer William Bostock in 1840, the building was originally used as a summer house for the family.

AN INDUSTRIAL park in Rhos-on-Sea has gone on the market for £1million.

Rhos Industrial Park, off Church Road, is up for sale after being under the same ownership for 17 years.

The industrial estate is made up 11 separate units, and includes two gyms, a children's party venue, a martial arts gym, and a vehicle repairs shop.

The 11 units produce roughly £76,000 in rent per year, estate agent St Davids Commercial said.

In total, the units extend to some 19,040 square feet, and the estate is described as being available "as a going concern" with all current leases and tenants in place.......... https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/24972051.rhos-on-sea-industrial-park-goes-market-1million/?ref=rss&IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589

Eyebrows were raised in a Conwy seaside town when a digger trundled onto its beach and began excavating sand from a flight of steps. Curiosity turned to bewilderment when safety handrails were attached to the steps, which were then reburied.

Residents in Rhos on Sea were left baffled by the sight of the new railings partly protruding from the sand. “So now the handrails have become a tripping hazard,” sighed one person................  https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/bizarre-pits-dug-welsh-riviera-31300495?IYA-reg=49560bcd-5a9c-47f0-8fc5-ba2e71710589
