Sat outside Lillys yesterday afternoon for a couple, the place was heaving, very nice to see but it is in a brilliant position. One thing baffles me,they have had damage to the right hand side of the roof for over 12 months yet they have had the left hand side re-roofed and seem to have left the damaged side, bamboozled.

Yes, I was baffled also. The lower section of roof is covered with black plastic sheeting, but higher up where the tiles are missing there's a visible hole in the roof. I don't know what they do when it rains.

What's happening with the Ship at Rhos on Sea? Having pre-booked a table for 1pm today (Saturday) for 3, there was not another customer in the place, no one in the bar and only the 3 of us in the restaurant part. It was said there is a make-over going on but slowly. This place used to be heaving for its carvery especially at weekends.

The carvery meal was however very enjoyable

I heard a rumour over the weekend that the new owner of The Wash has applied for a casino licence. Has anybody else heard anything?

It's rubbish. You can't apply for a Casino licence as new ones are only permitted in certain areas (none in North Wales).

That's a bit disappointing, I was looking forward to some live poker!

That is 84 establishments in and around Llandudno were a member of the general public can purchase a coffee and sit down to drink it.

With a new coffee shop now opened in C-y-D and another new coffee shop recently opened in Llwynon Road then the number of establishments in Llandudno where a member of the general public can purchase a coffee and sit down to drink it rises to 86.

(I am sorry but I do not know the names of the two new cafes.)

Unless, of course, you know of any cafes that have closed down or any more new ones that have opened up since Caffe Nero.

Plus the new one on Llewellyn Avenue called Character's Tea House and there is also a cafe under Bonker's Play Centre in the church with no spire at the top of Llewellyn Avenue!!

Jack, my apologies I got confused over Character’s Tea House.

I meant Llewelyn Avenue but I was unaware of a new café at Bonkers Fun Centre so that increases the total to 87.

Went into the new Caffe V in Craig Y Don yesterday - what an funny little place! We went in, sat down, only about 6 tables inside.  Standard of decoration as a bit ropey, as though it had been done in a rush. Two lads behind the counter. We asked for a menu and was told that everything was 'on the board'. So, we had to get up and go over to look at the board. That didn't take long - the food offer consisted of a few cakes and 3 types of sandwich. So much for my vision of a nice hot lunch!

We ordered coffee & cakes. Coffee arrived, the cakes were deposited still in their cellophane wrapper on the table, no plate or serviette! To be fair, coffee was very good indeed. It would be a good place to sit and look out of the window, but large vinyl stickers block the view at head height - oh dear!

So, we left a touch bemused! I can't help but think they will struggle unless they have a proper food offer.

OMG doesn't sound good-- hope the crumbs are cleared between customers. Any plates if you order a sandwich?

I think you do get a plate if you buy a sandwich.  :)

Maybe they're just struggling to get the business started and it could get better as they learn the ropes. Could our roving reporter/reviewer possibly do a follow up visit at a later date?

how about telling them were they are going wrong, or should we wait until they go under and then tell them?
