Sounds good, do they do vegetarian food?

We had lunch out yesterday in Conwy a very pleasant  tuna melt toasted sandwich, very tasty at the Pen y Bryn tea rooms, well worth a visit $dins$

Your meal at Home Cookin sound really nice Fester and I'm glad you enjoyed it.  We've been there a few times and always had a nice meal but we tend to go more to their other place in Penrhyn Bay called Home from Home Cookin.  It's very good and they have a delicious menu lined up for Valentine's night.   It's so good there that I feel sorry for any other cafe/ bistro business setting up in Penrhyn Bay, they'll find stiff competition with Home  from Home Cookin

You're right Cambrian, we've also booked for the Thai Restaurant called "Sixth Sense" in Deganwy and will book for the  Watson's Bistro in Conwy as we've had good reports about both of them.     $dins$

Prompted by Hugo's comment re Home Cookin, I had a look at the Food Standard Agency's website which gives details of the food hygiene standard ratings - commonly known as "Scores on the Doors".  Readers can find this on http://ratings.food.gov.uk
You can put in "Llandudno" (or whatever) and up comes all the relevant establishments with their scores from 1 to 5.  Some very interesting results for one or two of our hotels and restaurants.  Don't worry Hugo, Home Cooking got a 5!

It's also in our Useful Links page.

We have eaten in Home from Home (Penrhyn Bay) before too.
But I find that the dining experience in the Llandudno branch is superior.
Penryhn Bay one is a little bright and less comfortable IMHO.

But both are excellent and offer first class food for reasonable prices.

We will be back to both of them!

Work seems to be well underway again on Caffe Nero, there were workmen painting the outside today and lots going on inside.

The Pioneer thinks Caffe Nero will be open by mid February.

Caffee Nero's marketing department say they expect to open mid to late February but can't give a definite date yet.
I was looking at Caffe Nero today and could see that work is well advanced inside, with the counter in place and the first fix of the electrics completed. I was also pleased to see that they have stripped the paint off the window frames and little round ventilators to reveal the polished brass underneath - good to see them making the effort to do a good job.  $good$

I also noticed today that all the paint has been cleaned from the first floor windows above Caffe Nero, it seems that they are intending to use it as an additional seating area. What with the ground floor, first floor and the large number of tables they intend to have outside, it will certainly be pulling custom from the other coffee shops.

DaveR, will Caffe Nero be allowed to put tables and chairs outside

If so, from your knowledge will they be in or out of the sunshine for most of the day?
