Green fingers make LLandudno botanical cafe a sweet treat to remember
This bustling plant paradise features in the Indy Coffee Guide Wales

Botanical Babe Plants is a houseplant shop and caf? located in Llandudno. They sell a large range of houseplants and offer workshops including terrarium-making classes and re-potting sessions.

Tesni, the owner, started the business during the pandemic and began by selling cuttings of her plants. She also offers tips on keeping them alive, which would be an essential bit of info for me.

The caf? was recently named as one of the best spots to drink and buy speciality coffee. Botanical Babe was in the first guide dedicated to Wales' booming coffee culture.

Indy Coffee Guide Wales featured independent Welsh coffee shops, cafes, roasteries and trainers and ?Botanical Babe? was named as one of the businesses serving a top-notch brew. The caf? on Mostyn Street certainly grabs your attention as the place is packed full of plants and is an oasis of green leaves and nature.

Former deli site in Llandudno remains empty after business move
The 5 Lloyd Street property was previously home to The Ham Bone, a popular deli, for several years before being taken over by Feasterz, a burger and milkshake business.

The site is now vacant after the latter moved, with potential for a caf? and restaurant space with a possibility of securing an alcohol licence.

RENOVATION WORK is being undertaken at the site of a former caf? in Llandudno, with a Turkish restaurant set to open there soon.

The ground floor site, on the corner of Arvon Avenue and Gloddaeth Street, is part of the Travelodge complex at the old Clarence Hotel building.

The corner plot was last occupied by the Eagles Continental Caf? in 2018, and has remained empty since.

However, the site is being renovated ahead of the opening of Istanbul Restaurant Caf? Bar & Grill, whose sign simply says it will be ?opening soon?.

Number 25 review: New and 'classy' Italian bar and bistro already a hit with locals
Julie Richards-Williams had high expectations for this newcomer and she wasn't disappointed

Excellent food and drink in a stylish contemporary setting- all this and more is on offer at Number 25, a family friendly bistro and bar that is fast becoming the top spot to wine and dine Italian style in the picturesque village of Rhos-on-Sea in Conwy.

Whether you want just a coffee, a quiet drink and nibbles with friends, a big birthday bash or a romantic dinner for two, there?s something for everyone, as my friend Nerys and I found when we put the recently opened venue to the test.

Formerly known as La Dolce Vita, a popular Italian restaurant in the centre of Penrhyn Avenue for some three decades, early in 2023 it was bought by New Zealand born Grant Hamilton and his wife Kate, who transformed the place, giving it a classy modern image.

Six North Wales pubs looking for a new landlord in 2024

Many of our pubs have been the heart of our communities for centuries. We have lost quite a few over recent years, but the ones that remain play an important role in many people's lives.

There are a number of pubs on the market in North Wales, with plenty of potential opportunities for the next generation of business-minded people. They range from a hub in the centre of Machynlleth to a double-fronted property in Llanrwst, and the The Dudley Arms, Llandrillo

A CHINESE restaurant in Llandudno has closed ahead of a move to a new location in the town, which it hopes to complete in the coming months.

Tops Chinese Restaurant, which was based at 43 Mostyn Avenue, will open at 7 Carmen Sylva Road.

The business told the Pioneer that builders were working on getting the new site ready, and that they hoped to open in ?a couple months?.

Tops is highly-rated and has established a dedicated customer base since opening in 2013.

Restaurants: Fears for future after spate of closures in Wales

Industry insiders fear a bleak future for Wales' restaurants following a spate of new year closures.

Cardiff's Kindle, Brass Beetle, along with the Conway pub, all announced they were shutting as a result of rising costs.

Now calls are being made for the Welsh government to rethink plans to cut rates relief from 75% to 40%.

The Welsh government said it was giving ?134m in rates support next year on top of permanent schemes worth ?250m.

In the draft budget in December, as well as announcing plans to slash rate relief from 75% to 40%, it said business rates would rise 5%.

In England rate relief will remain 75%.

Welsh Government accused of dealing 'hammer blow' to shops, restaurants and pubs in rates snub
Discount does not match that in England but minister defends decision as calls grow for u-turn

In the draft budget the Welsh Government took the decision to only reduce rates by 40% for 2024/25 and use the money saved on public services. This comes at a time when pubs and restaurants are closing every single day across Wales and the rest of the UK.

Some venues are an instant success with the public - so it was with Someplace Else, a cosy wine bar and restaurant that is adding an extra dimension to the social scene in Craig-y-Don.

In just a few short months this independent family owned establishment has gone from being an unknown newcomer to one of the top spots to eat and drink in the Llandudno area, with a strong local following plus an increasing number of customers recommended by neighbouring guest house owners.

Delicious home cooked food, wines, drinks and service to match are on offer six days a week and prices won?t break the bank

The Jackdaw Conwy named among the best restaurants in the UK

The Jackdaw Conwy - located in Conwy - was revealed as the 24th best restaurants on the list.

SquareNeak said the restaurant blends "modern British and Welsh techniques and flavours in a smart, contemporary dining room".

Describing the Conwy-based establishment, the restaurant experts added: "The Jackdaw name has special significance in Conwy, North Wales - Jackdaw (or jac-do in Welsh), is the nickname given to a person born within the walls of Conwy town, taken from the jackdaws which can be found nesting in the walls of the town and castle.

A POPULAR Italian restaurant is officially on the market.

The leasehold is on the market for ?50,000 with Dafydd Hardy Estate Agents.

PREPARATIONS are well underway to open Llandudno's first 'plant powered cafe' which will also be dog friendly.
Sara Turner, who owns Green Island Bistro on Rhuddlan High Street, is aiming to open Pip & Oat in February.

She is moving into a unit on Clonmel Street, previously Precious Memories Photograph

Speaking ahead of the new venture, Sara said: "Preparations are going well. We've had to fit all new equipment in the property such as plumbing and kitchen so this has taken the most time.

"We will be serving a range of light bites, hot food, cakes, snacks, coffees, teas and cold drinks. All our food and drink will be plant based and nut free, with gluten free options too and the cafe will also be dog friendly."

The Senedd rebuffed calls for the Welsh Government to reverse plans to slash business rates relief for the retail, hospitality and leisure sectors - in a move described as "death sentence" for some in the sector. Peter Fox led a Conservative debate, raising concerns about business rates relief falling from 75% to 40% under Welsh ministers? draft 2024-25 spending plans.

The MS urged the Welsh Government to use money from Westminster to support businesses and protect jobs by keeping the 75% rate. Mr Fox warned that businesses in Wales will pay almost twice as much in non-domestic rates than if they were based in England.

YouTube star BeardMeatsFood   https://www.youtube.com/@Beardmeatsfood   took on 'impossible' biggest breakfast in Wales and the eyes said it all
No-one had even attempted it before - then along came Adam Moran, also known as BeardMeatsFood

He?s taken on the world?s biggest creme egg, tackled a 20-inch baguette and defeated Scotland?s biggest burger. YouTuber Adam Moran has even seen off the legendary Octuple Bypass Burger at the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas.

For his latest encounter with Desperate Dan food, he headed to North Wales for a new eating challenge that has never before been undertaken, let alone completed. You'll find it at Anne?s Kitchen in Mochdre, Conwy, and it involves sitting down for a monster Full Welsh breakfast weighing in at an estimated 10,000 calories.

The 38-year-old from Leeds, better known as BeardMeatsFood, has earned the title of Britain?s number one competitive eater. His YouTube channel has 3.65m followers and he?s so popular that he?s taken out a ?1 million insurance policy on his stomach and tastebuds.

After setting up his cameras, staff served up a meal that contained eight of everything: bacon rashers, sausages, eggs, hash browns, fried bread and black puddings. On the side were beans, saut?ed potatoes, mushrooms and tomatoes. All had to be washed down with eight slices of toast and a litre of milky coffee.
