"Yet to cross rhe A55 and head south" ???

If they're from the zoo and on the north facing slopes of Colwyn Bay then are they not already on the south side of the A55?

Hope the tracking system knows where they are!

A council is planning to sell farmland near Old Colwyn in order for around 235 homes to be built on the site. Conwy Council has listed its Ty Mawr site near Old Colwyn as being for sale, with developers asked express their interest in the land back in 2019.

Work such as traffic surveys and ground investigations is now taking place after being slowed by the pandemic, before the council's cabinet selects a development partner for the land later this year. The 37.75-acre site is sandwiched between Old Colwyn and Llysfaen, just off Berth Y Glyd Road and Peulwys Road, and is currently used as farmland.

Planning consent will need to be secured before any development gets underway, but the area is listed for residential development in Conwy’s local development plan. The council said the current farming tenant would be given notice once the sale is agreed.

Describing the land, Conwy’s website boasts that the site is close to both Chester and Manchester. The website reads: “By car and by train Chester is less than 50 minutes away and Manchester is less than 2 hours by train and just over 90 minutes by car.

Readers are sceptical about Conwy County Council’s plans to build 235 homes at the Ty Mawr site near Old Colwyn and Llysfaen. The council has listed the agricultural land as for sale and developers have been asked to express their interest.

One reader wrote: "There is no mention of the impact on existing residents on Peulwys Estate. The council are sticking more houses up here without considering the current community facilities and services.

"The buses are not great; we need more shops, and I struggle to get to the doctors. The site is big enough to develop more than just housing - including green spaces, allotments, bus terminals, shops, businesses - and make it more of a community that it is currently in need of. Don’t be so blinkered, council.”

There was an audacious theft of a motorhome  from a property in Colwyn Heights.     The motorhome was one of three motorhomes parked on the drive of the house.
I suspect that the vehicle will be long gone BY NOW but hope that a tracker is fitted to the expensive vehicle.      There have been reports of thefts of other motorhomes in the North Wales area in recent times so I hope that the Police can catch the gang that steals these vehicles

It's raining quite heavily at the moment and has been doing so for most of the morning.     I know that a number of Street Parties have been arranged for today and feel sorry for the organisers who have put so much time and effort into arranging the Parties
Perhaps the rain may stop in time for the parties to go ahead

Barclays is set to close its bank in Colwyn Bay.... The branch will shut this September with the bank saying that customer numbers are falling as more people use online services.

It will mean the nearest branch will be Llandudno although Barclays said everyday transactions can be completed at any Post Office. They said a total of 80 regular customers use the Conway Road branch exclusively for their banking and do not interact with the bank in other ways. There is no intention to make any staff redundant.           refDP

Police update
North Wales Police said they're unable to provide further information at present.

What we know so far
Emergency services were seen patrolling Colwyn Bay last night, following reports of an unaccompanied child. It is understood the child was seen walking alone at around 10.30pm.

Emergency services including officers from North Wales Police and the fire service searched the area. At around 1.50am police urged members of the public to return home.

A spokesperson said: "Officers will continue to search for and attempt to identify the child through the night, along with professional search teams.

"There is currently a significant number of members of the public out searching for the child, and whilst initially helpful, this may now be causing the child, if still out to stay hidden."

CONWY County Borough Council has signed CSM Services Group as the new commercial partner for the stadium at Parc Eirias in Colwyn Bay.

The stadium, which in the last 10 years has become a destination for major music events, as well as hosting sporting fixtures such as under-20s internationals, North Wales Rugby and North Wales Crusaders matches, will be officially known as Stadiwm CSM.

Mysterious 'Audi R8 shaped object' captured 'bouncing' through North Wales sky
The strangely shaped bright white sphere of light was recorded whizzing over Colwyn Heights

I did see an Audi R8 driving past my house but didn't see the one in the sky though

NORTH Wales Police, in partnership with Conwy County Borough Council, have placed a Public Space Protection Order in the town centre of Colwyn Bay.

The order has been implemented to curb street drinking and anti-social behaviour on the streets of the town centre.

The order stipulates that anyone in the restricted area who refuses to stop drinking alcohol or hand over a container with alcohol when asked to do so by an officer will be committing a criminal offence.

Those aged 17 and younger, who are not under the effective control of an adult or someone aged 18 or over, are prohibited from gathering in groups of three or more in the restricted area.

'Ghost road' at heart of seaside town needs action now as traders 'sick to death' of consultations
There have been calls for the pedestrianisation of Station Road in Colwyn Bay to be scrapped for years and now another consultation will start

Traders want action ?now? to return traffic to a town centre ?ghost road? after another consultation is set to be launched - with fears that pedestrianisation is set to stay. For years there have been calls for all-day vehicle access to Station Road, Colwyn Bay.

Even before the pandemic hit there were around a third of the 30 units empty and since then WH Smith, Peacocks and Trespass have left the street. In October 2020 Conwy council launched a consultation on proposals for the centre of North Wales?s second biggest town - which included traffic returning to Station Road.
