A55 and A487 warnings as work continues on incredible £207m Eryri tunnel
Motorists are being urged to 'allow extra time for journeys' when an abnormal load leaves the site early next week

Work is continuing on a £207m tunnel that could transform part of Eryri (Snowdonia). Engineers aim to bore a 3.4km tunnel under the Dwyryd Estuary near Porthmadog to replace 3km of existing overhead lines.

Over three weeks late last year, a specially-built tunnel boring machine (TBM) was delivered in 27 sections to the site compound in Minffordd. As well as the shield, tail skin, cutter head and thrust unit, components for the giant drilling machine included 15 gantries.

How major A55 scheme on oldest part of road stopped flooding and boosted walking and cycling
Its has been almost two year since the £30m Aber Tai’r Meibion scheme was officially opened

A major scheme to improve the A55 has seen walking and cycling rocket, while stopping flooding. Almost two years ago, the £30m Aber Tai’r Meibion scheme was officially opened.

The scheme, which included £20m of European funding, targeted a section of the A55 which was almost 50 years old and was not up to current design standards. It was prone to flooding and had very little safe provision for walkers and cyclists nearby, the Welsh Government said

Let's hope it works this time as it has already had a multi million pounds work to prevent flooding before and that effort failed

I was driving along the A55 today in the west bound carriageway and as expected for a Bank Holiday the traffic was horrendous.    We were overtaken by dozens of large caravans and some were tailgating so I wouldn't be surprised if there are accidents on the road with long delays

Live A55 updates as traffic into North Wales 'at a standstill'
Traffic is queuing back all the way to the A494 following an accident in Holywell

Two months of roadworks at tourism hotspot Betws-y-Coed for major project
The A470 roadworks will start next week and last until the end of June

A tourism hotspot will face two months of roadworks disruption as a major projects gets underway. Work is beginning on a replacement bridge to cross Afon Conwy near Betws y Coed railway station, says Conwy council.

The old Sappers Bridge - which has been closed for years due to safety fears - will be replaced with a 50-metre-long suspension bridge with two ornate towers, in the style of the historic bridge. The new bridge will be accessible and wide enough for pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users, prams and mobility scooters.

A55 accident fears as tourists gridlock historic village to reach ‘must visit’ attraction
Queues have been reportedly spilling out onto the North Wales Expressw

An historic Gwynedd village is being gridlocked by traffic heading to one of Britain’s most scenic waterfalls. Last weekend Abergwyngregyn descended into chaos as bumper-to-bumper queues tailed back more than half-a-mile onto the A55.

The village, once home to the last native prince of Wales, has become mired in traffic since the pandemic lockdowns. The rising popularity of Aber Falls, a majestic waterfall much loved online, has seen problems escalate ever since.
