New link between A55 and A470 gets verdict from planning officers
The proposal is backed by millions of pounds of UK Government funding
Plans to build bridges and a pathway to link the A470 with a junction of the A55 have had a verdict from planning officers. Conwy council received millions of pounds in Levelling-Up cash from the last UK Government to improve cycling and walking routes in the Conwy Valley.

I feel this money could be used better, especially as a recent report stated the existing paths and tracks are not being used, so why continue wasting this money when there are many more priorities out there.............

They should use the money to repair the existing roads (get rid of potholes) to make them safe for all users ... pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.

Cyclists continue to use roads even when there are expensive paths dedicated for them, so I'm sure they would appreciate the roads being repaired, as they make great use of them.

But those in power just like wasting our money

I'm inclined to agree with you DVT.       Considering that the A470  is the main North to South route in Wales the money could have been used for better purposes.
A few years ago two friends and I had to walk along the A470 from Tal Y Cafn to Glan Conwy and looking back now,  that was a stupid thing to have done.   That road is a death trap for pedesrians and there is no pavement along that stretch of road

A55 and A470 link plan a 'total waste of money' some readers say

The path would run from the layby between Glan Conwy and the Black Cat garage before crossing the Conwy Valley rail line and Afon Ganol, meaning it would require two bridges

Quote from that media post ... "Conwy Council was granted millions in Levelling-Up funds from the previous UK Government to enhance cycling and walking routes in the Conwy Valley."

Surely the "levelling up" should apply to the roads, they are far from level with all the potholes and temporary repairs.  That would be of benefit to far more people than creating an expensive path.

'Really bad' road between Colwyn Bay and Llandudno and A55 exit to be closed for works
The resurfacing work will start later this month - with overnight closures[
A link road between Colwyn Bay and Llandudno and an A55 exit face overnight closures to undertake "much needed" work. The condition of Brompton Avenue and 'Fiveways' roundabout in Rhos-on-Sea has been criticised by drivers - with numerous potholes and other issues.

From the Gogarth news letter..........

ROAD RESURFACING
Conwy County Borough Council have approached us for feedback on roads to be included in their road resurfacing programme for 2025/26.  In recent year's we've been disappointed to see the Gogarth Mostyn ward miss out on the road resurfacing programme, and we'd like to see that change.  We'll be resubmitting the roads we put forward last year, but would also like your feedback on which roads should be included.  You can let us know by emailing llandudnogogarth@gmail.com or by clicking below and completing our online form...........

A55 roadworks at major interchange next week with near nine mile diversion
Existing road marking and traffic signs are being renewed
Four nights of roadworks are planned on a major A55 junction in Conwy this month. The work will involve several lane closures, full closure of a slip road and the one-way closure of an A road.

The renewal of road marking and traffic signs are needed at junction 19 Glan Conwy interchange, known locally at the Black Cat roundabout. The junction is the main gateway to Llandudno, Llandudno Junction and the Conwy Valley

Nightmare' starts again on Menai Suspension Bridge as 24/7 traffic controls resume
Restoration work will now continue for up to nine months without a break

At peak times, the bridge’s traffic lights will be manually operated to improve the efficiency of vehicle flows. However, local congestion remains probable and affected businesses may be eligible for rates relief – there’s more on this here.
