.... yes Dave, and that directly led to the Pier being deserted!
That's a good point, I saw something in the paper about the Rally bringing £10m into the area, is there any proof of this?

That's a mistake - Fester just dropped his wallet in Mostyn Street - but it was soon returned

We didn't go into Town, so didn't spend anything.  We travelled in the opposite direction, but did return in the evening for a meal.   Z**

Historic Llandudno sites to undergo refurbishment
TWO historical sites in Llandudno will be refurbished with funds from Conwy County and Llandudno Town councils.
The tram shelter on West Shore and the Colonnades at Happy Valley are to receive £23,229 from Conwy Council.
Llandudno Town Council applied for the funds and has put in £28,000 for work on the Grade II listed structures.
Mayor of Llandudno, Cllr Malcolm Bullock, said: “At least they’re being renovated and used, It’s definitely got to have something done with it.
“It could be a place where people can go to find out what’s happening in the town and it would be good if they could get a cup of tea or coffee.
"That was the main stop for all the trams and it’s an important piece of history so it should be preserved."
Other suggestions include a bike rental hub and a cafe.

The Mayor also commended the Friends of Happy Valley for their work in keeping the Colonnades maintained.
Friends’ chairman Gerry Sweeny said: “It’s brilliant news - the Colonnades is a very important structure.
"The problem now is how to keep it being used. We’re hoping to do a weekly craft market there, which would be a place people want to go to.
We’re also very happy about the tram shelter, but again it is finding a use for it.”
Friends of Happy Valley, which has been running for three years and has 18 members, has worked with local organisation CIAS to keep the Colonnades benches painted and looking good.

The funding was allocated in a Conwy Council cabinet meeting on November 11, with work expected to be finished by Easter 2015 REFPioneer

That's right, Frank Gorka tried for years to convert the tram shelter into a cafe but faced numerous obstacles from CCBC.

That's correct.  He offered to take it on after CCBC noted it was falling into disrepair. However, they put one thing after another into his path until he finally gave up, having spent more than £15000 of his own money.

It really amazes me. It seems evident that CCBC are not interested in letting the private sector invest in local facilities under their control. There is so much potential for private sector investment to revitalise tired areas like West Shore and Rhos Point, especially at a time when public resources are so limited

The truly ironic thing is that hard working local businessmen like Frank Gorka and the owners of Dylans Restaurant are presented with nothing but obstacles when they try and do something, whilst a 'Celebrity Chef' from outside the area is welcomed with open arms and given preferential treatment, but achieves precisely nothing in two years.

We can only hope that the Conwy/Denbighshire merger gets rid of the dead wood in CCBC and brings in people with commercial experience in the real world, instead of the no hopers employed at present in senior roles.

We hope the merger is for the better but somehow I can't see it improving things at all.

Just think of all the redundancies that will occur, and the BIG payoffs that will go with them!  Enhanced pensions, re-employment for some as Consultants, or part-time seasonal jobs.  It will be 1996 all over again, just like when the Unitary Authority was formed.

Just one great big expensive re-organisation.  More power AND Dosh to the top jobs, and everyone else wanting more money for the "extra" responsibility.  Unison will be in its element!  Don't bank on any savings that will reduce our contributions to the gravy train.
