Have to admit to ignoring the Llandudno/Colwyn Bay activities over the weekend and head to Liverpool/Ormskirk. BBC weather forecast showed thunder and lighting Saturday afternoon and heavy rain most of Sunday for that area. A few spots of rain in Liverpool, Ormskirk was warm and sunny Sunday until the clouds appeared on the horizon late afternoon, as we were leaving.
Reason for going there - daughter and husband live in Liverpool so stayed there the night then went to the Ormskirk Motorfest. A fine display of cars - all types, old, new, big, small, fast, slow, 3 and 4 wheels, p,us motor-cycles in the shopping area (pedestrianised zone) and the nearby park. There was also a funfair for the kids, far enough away not to trouble the serious enthusiasts looking at the cars, stalls to raise money for charity, brass band, a chance to ride in a rally car around a course (donations to NW Ambulance) and the road around the town was closed on two occasions for a procession of the various cars that were displayed.
Arrived and easily found a parking spot in a pay and display car park - no charge as it was weekend. No admission fee to get into the park, loads of people enjoying the displays. The only thing overpriced as the ice cream at £2.50 for a 99 - although we did find a different vendor charging £2.20!!!
It was estimated beforehand that 25000 people would attend - there was certainly a lot but how many put off by the weather forecast, I wonder - we were between two minds ourselves until we got up Sunday morning and saw clear skies! I'm sure many similar events also suffer from the weather forecasts rather than the actual weather.
