Incidentally, presumably Mostyn is the landowner of the Tudno Castle site - they seem to own the little car park between it and Parc Llandudno.

Without wanting to distract from what is most important at the moment with this debate, can somebody please try and explain to me how Mostyn Estates (as landowners) can force hotel owners on the promenade to maintain their properties externally, including the correct shade of pink paint, whilst simultaneously letting the owner of the Tudno Castle allow his property deteriorate to the extent that he has in recent times?

Short answer is...they don't, CCBC do. It's in a Conservation Area. Years ago, CCBC set up a colour scheme for buildings on the promenade. It consists of pastel colours which blend in with neighbouring properties.

As far as the Tudno Castle is concerned, CCBC could take action as regards the state of the building. Maybe they have, and that accounts for the fence was now surrounds it? You could always do a FOI request to find out?

Do Mostyn Estates definitely own the freehold anyway?

No rumours involved, the information was in the document issued by the representative of the owner.

Read it for yourself.....
Is the doument dated? As I understand it the deal with Premier Inn fell through more than two years ago and even if there are new negotiations nothing has been firmed up. The owner told me categorically that the property is not for sale ( even though his business partner apparently says the opposite) but they are actively seeking a tenant. He isn't prepared to say more at this stage for fear of jeopardising a possible deal.
The planning permission referred to took 18 months to achieve because of difficulties in getting CADW to deal with the listed building aspect of it, by that time Premier Inn had grown tired of waiting, lost interest in the Tudno Castle,  and invested in building a bedroom block onto the Craigside Inn instead.

I received the PDF yesterday from the new Agent who stuck his board up a couple of days ago. If you look at the second image I posted yesterday, it does say 'commencing early 2012'. I expect there has been some miscommunication somewhere along the line between owner and agent?

As for Premier Inn, there's a reason they refer to the  Craigside Inn as their 'Llandudno North' unit and not just 'Llandudno'.  ;)

DaveR, it may or may not be relevant but Premier Inn refer to The Craigside Inn as Llandudno North (Little Orme) and The Afon Conwy as Llandudno ( Glan-Conwy).

Following your logic, would not The Tudno Castle be the Llandudno North Unit and The Craigside Inn be the Llandudno South Unit?

The point was, Bri, that they didn't call Craigside Inn just 'Llandudno', they clearly intend to open another in the town. If you look on their Target Towns list, they have Llandudno listed:

Llandudno to become the Daffodil capital of Wales
Feb 9 2012
by Judith Phillips, North Wales Weekly News

A SCHEME to make Llandudno the Daffodil Capital of Wales could boost low season tourism next year.
The idea came from guest house owner Karen Fulker of Holcombe House on Abbey Road and a team has come together to make it happen after she floated it at a meeting of Llandudno Hospitality Association.
Karen’s friend and team member Deborah Thompson of the Hilary Guest House in St David’s Road explained: “Our plan is to extend the season in Llandudno by marketing it as the place to see bright, colourful displays of daffodils throughout the late winter and spring.
“Ideas so far are for a mass planting weekend in the autumn and then competitions for the best displays throughout the town and surrounding area.
“There’s even talk of art competitions and displays, poetry, music, daffodil walks and trail, daffodil merchandise – nothing is finalised yet so we are open to suggestions as well as offers of help.”
The project has gained the support of Llandudno Town Council, Conwy County Council, as well as the Llandudno Hospitality Association and several hoteliers. And Deborah said they also hope to get schools and businesses involved.
They also hope to get local schools and business involved too.
“An advantage of daffodils is that they’ll come back year after year,” said Karen. “It’s all very exciting but only in its infancy at the moment. Let’s hope the local people and business get behind this and we can have a massive planting day or even days in the autumn.”
David Williams, chairman of Llandudno Hospitality Association, said: “Karen brought the idea to the executive committee which was very enthusiastic and gave their full support.
“It’s important that we look at ways of attracting visitors to come here in low season and this seems to be an excellent way of encouraging people to come for a few days and if they like what they see to come back again.”

I thought Gregg was banned from standing outside pubs with his chain on. On the daffodils idea, firstly CCBC must plant thousands of Daffs first this autumn then everyone else can follow suit.

Indeed, it's a good idea if done properly. The question is how the centre of the town could benefit, as there is very little green space to plant any daffodils in - could planters filled with daffodil bulbs be placed on the wider pavement areas along Mostyn Street maybe?

This is just the sort of scheme that the Town Council could organise very easily. We hear they're backing the scheme...that's great, so are we all  , but what are they doing in any tangible sense?
