I felt the same Nemesis, so I replied to that blog, and related how I managed to stop John Wainwright bullying me!

When I was at school the only thing that stopped bullies was a good thrashing, they soon left me alone  WWW

I saw this street sign this morning. To my mind, this is exactly the sort of thing that the local Councillor should be sorting out. Whose Ward is it in?

I guess you are referring to the banana skin and not the fact it's an English name  :o

Most of the street signs in the same area are in a similar state of repair-- no banana skins, but no paint either !

The problem is they are as cheap as they come and, consequently, must be replaced rather than repainted as the plastic coating on the frame has split and the metal inside rusted badly . Cast iron ones from the Victorian era are still going strong with an occasional repaint, these aluminum ones need replacing after maybe 15 years at best. Spend a bit more to save money in the long run would be good advice to follow...

As a past Gloddaeth Avenue resident I can vouch for the amount of disruption these road closures create.

Surely the organisers of the event (and any other similar event) can sort out a route that does not inconvenience residents.   Some events create a total traffic jam of the Avenue such that even the emergency services have been prevented from attending to people requiring ambulances in the nursing homes.

Not really a case of "here we go again" if you have experienced such.

As I said the last time there was a running event, why don't they just run up and down the prom, no need to close any roads then.

I think road closures and traffic jams would be more off putting to visitors than the loss of a running race that they probably didn't even know about!    WWW

Road races should be held during the late Autumn and Winter months, not whilst the Summer season still has some time on the clock!    ;D

Summer has gone and not many visitors would be put of by a few diversion signs.

Spheres??

Anyhow, I agree with one thing... Summer has gone allright, the town and the pier have been a lot more desolate this past week, than the corresponding week last year.
