I hope they stop using the car horn as a means of advertising their presence, very annoying, going on all day......... :(

A COUPLE who purchased a hotel in Llandudno last year are bringing back the Land Trains.

David Banks and his wife Claire moved into the town in June 2022 after snapping up the Promen?d B&B.

Two services will operate: Around the Great Orme and from West Shore to the Pier and back.

David said: "My wife Claire and I moved to the town in June last year when we purchased the Promenad B&B on Mostyn Crescent. We?d been coming to Llandudno for many enjoyable years as visitors and wanted a change of lifestyle.

A car caught fire this morning closing a road near Llandudno. The blaze took place at Glanwyyden Lane just before noon and shut the road for more than an hour.

Aerial pictures show the remains of a burnt out car. North Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and quickly brought the fire under control.    ref DP
A fire service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 11:19am in which we were told a car was on fire on Glanwydden Lane in Glanwydden near Llandudno, Conwy. One fire engine immediately attended the scene and closed the road. There were no reports of anyone injured and North Wales Police did not attend."

"From what we can surmise there was no criminal intent, there was no road traffic collision, it was simply an electrical fault. So we can confirm that it was just an electrical fault that caused the veichle to catch fire.

"At around 1pm we left the area and the road reopened to the public."

The Welsh Ambulance Service don not attend the scene.

Major new wind farm off Llandudno gets decision deadline

One of Wales? biggest potential investments in renewable energy this decade has reached a major milestone. Awel y M?r Offshore wind farm is planned for construction off the coast of North Wales, to the west of Gwynt-y-M?r.

If constructed, the RWE wind farm will consist of a maximum of 50 turbines up to 332m high to the tip of the rotor, and be capable of generating power equivalent to the consumption of half a million homes. In comparison Gwynt-y-M?r has 160 turbines which are around 138m high.

Fresh proposal for Llandudno retail and restaurant units that have stayed empty
The units are next to the new Premier Inn hotel in the town

Empty retail and restaurant units built as part of a new hotel site could become a gym under a new proposal. The former Tudno Castle hotel site in Llandudno was redeveloped into a 90 bedroom Premier Inn.

While the hotel opened last summer the units built next to it for retail or restaurant use have remained empty. Now a new proposal is being made for the site which sits between Parc Llandudno and the town?s high street. Under the plan the site would be transformed into a high quality gym facility.

Plans to cut Llandudno?s direct train service to Manchester Airport

It comes as part of Mrs Finch-Saunders?s long-running campaign to see more direct services come to Llandudno.

This came about in response to her question to the Welsh Government on whether the impending Llandudno-Liverpool service is in addition to, or instead of, the current Llandudno-Manchester Airport/Piccadilly through service.

Lee Waters MS, deputy minister for climate change, replied: ?TfW plan to extend the current Llandudno to Manchester Airport service to operate from Bangor.

?This will increase services for North West Wales with a connection available at Llandudno Junction for passengers from Llandudno.

?TfW plan to make this change alongside the introduction of the new Llandudno to Liverpool service.?

Mrs Finch-Saunders said: ?The TfW plan to cut the direct rail service between Llandudno and Manchester International Airport proves beyond doubt that the Welsh Labour Government do not understand the tourism sector in North Wales.

See my question posted on 8th April has proved correct.  More spin from TfSW!
Best solution would be to alternate the workings between Bangor and Llandudno so each benefitted, but that would not occur in the TfSW Ivory Tower at Pontypridd.

Now that would make sound sense.

Maybe TfW could let us know if that has been considered?

Just read that all the local paddling pools will not open this year, due to 'slip risk'. Words fail me ! Only one person in all of the country can apparently paint them and he is ill.

Nothing surprises me with CCBC.      Do you remember when CCBC painted the Craig Y Don paddling Pool with a blue paint?     The trouble was that they used the wrong type of paint and all the kids that came out of it looked like young Smurfs

THe item actually made it onto the text items on the news last night. Slip risk ? Surely all surfaces are slippery when wet? CCBC look proper idiots announcing this litte gem just before the Extravaganza weekend. Really, are they trying to keep families at bay?

Heres someone who will not be impressed..........

OPERATORS behind a cafe bar and gift shop in Rhos on Sea are moving into a site previously leased by Apprentice winner Alana Spencer.

Darren Randle of Coast cafe bar and gift shop has taken on the tenancy.
We are hoping to be open within the coming weeks and aim to bring a new lease of life to the highly populated Paddling Pool area along Llandudno Promenade.

PADDLING pools in Craig y Don, Llanfairfechan, Penmaenmawr and Rhos on Sea will not be re-opening this summer.

The paddling pools normally open in May.

Conwy County Borough Council recently carried out a full safety audit of all sites. Those audits found that some areas are a high slip risk.

A spokesperson from the local authority said: "In response to the safety survey results, we planned to carry out some work to apply a specialist anti-slip coating to the surfaces, but unfortunately the only UK provider and installer is now unable to carry out the work due to sudden ill health.

"We are urgently trying to find an alternative solution or training for another contractor to carry out this essential health and safety work."

Cllr Charlie McCoubrey, leader of Conwy County Borough Council, said ?We know our paddling pools are hugely popular and we?re doing all we can to resolve the situation.

?We realise how disappointing this will be for people living in and visiting our beautiful county, but the safety of children and families using our paddling pools is our priority.?

Conwy Council is submitting funding applications to upgrade paddling pools across the county.

The spokesperson added: "We recognise what an important asset they are for our communities."  ref pioneer

Empty Llandudno paddling pool fails to deter operator taking on cafe
Whether the paddling pools are "filled or not", Coast Cafe and Gift shop said they intend to open at the site, next to Craig-y-Don paddling pool, within the coming weeks.
