Then the businesses will be moaning at the end of January that trading has been awful. Moral of the story - you can't take money if your business is closed. Mr Dickens knows this full well, his businesses are always open.

And Rightly So Dave.....   They are usually occupied by you and I !!
If he opens anymore,  I'll go there too!

I hear there was a serious house fire in Trafford Park, Penrhyn Bay, last night.  :(

I heard that on BBC news this morning, although he mis-pronounced 'Penrhyn' and called it 'Pentryn'.  However, it wasn't on the text service at that point, the excellent adjunct to the BBC news which - sadly - is bearing the brunt of the cutbacks.

Am I alone in thinking that the streets and public areas of LLanduno are getting worse ?
A walk along the North Shore prom this week and it's noticeable that ownershave not been cleaning up after their dogs even when they must be in full view from the hotel windows. There was all too much evidence of people having had the misfortune of treading in it too. What a dreadful impression to give our visitors.
Is it any wonder that many councils have already taken the draconian stand of banning dogs from their public places. At the end of the day the owners only have themselves to blame if this happens.
I think that dog walkers who cannot demonstrate the means to clear up after their animals when out and about should be given spot fines. The excuse that they haven't got a bag just doesn't wear.

We walked from Deganwy to Conwy and back yesterday, the footpaths were utterly disgusting with dog fouling. It really was a case of dodging the turds. It really is disgraceful as well as offensive, not to mention illegal.

And before any comes up with us being anti-dog, we are dog owners, but hopefully responsible ones.

Birch the owner, don't blame the dog.

I walked along the coastal path from Conwy to Llandudno yesterday afternoon as well, some sections of it were covered in dog mess, it was every couple of feet. It's obviously not just the odd errant dog owner responsible, it is more widespread than that.

Irresponsible dog owners even leave piles of it on the Pier!
In full view of children and onlookers.
It is also all along Happy Valley Road outside the Grand Hotel.
It makes me sick.

I don't like dogs actually.... but I also don't blame them for all this either.

I totally agree, even the footpath on the bridge was awful. Whilst I am not advocating confrontation, the only way to deal with this is not dog wardens (they are never about when required) or CCTV, (culprits maybe seen but cannot be traced) it's reasonable people politely pointing out to errant dog walkers the error of thier ways.

I, for one, will be carrying a pocket camera with me on my walks in future, as a last resort, to photograph both offenders and fouling.  I am fed up taking our visitors and guests, not to mention our 6 year old Goddaughter,  for walks up to our knees in dog doggy doos.

The North Shore gets like that every Winter Dave and the situation will only improve when or if the Blue Flag regulations ban dogs from the Beach for the season. Then their wonderfully trained owners will take them off to defecate somewhere else without clearing up behind their pets.

We also have to put up with the official Blind Dog toilet which is located the prom side of the North Parade zebra crossing. Wonderful idea of the Council to offer the Blind Visitors staying in the Belmont Hotel a place where they can take their dogs to do there business, but unfortunately no one has made any provision to clean up behind them. Several times this last summer I had to warn families with young children not to sit and picnic there because of the risk of Blindness http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A3116684

Don’t hold your breath for a quick solution as there is only one Dog Warden to patrol the whole of Conwy County

it's in Penrhyn Bay too, along the paths to Angel Bay, up the Little Orme, along the prom to Rhos on Sea, it's one of my pet hates and there are signs warning of a £1000 fine, about time it was enforced, money to be made there! I've said for some time that they should bring back dog licences, I'm not a dog lover at all and I know most owners are good etc but enough is enough even friends with dogs are unhappy about it  :rage:

The main problem is that owners take their dogs out to have a crap.  A well trained dog can be taught to defacate in their own garden where it is easy to clean up and of no problem to other people.

For some reason most owners do not make any attempt to train their dogs, for behaviour, socialising with other animals or hygeine.   Such training is not difficult, after all, us humans tend to have regular habits with regard to our own requirements to empty our systems!   We were subject to training, dogs should also be trained.

There is some good training information on the Internet such as:

I have to admit to being at a loss to understand why anyone would consider that the reintroduction of dog licences would do anything to stop dog fouling. There is already a £1,000 fine for fouling that is not enforced, so who would enforce new dog licences? The one, singular, Conwy Dog Warden?

Legislation does not work in anti-social matters, there is no-one to enforce it.

The only hope is peer-pressure and making it perfectly clear that dog fouling, like drink-driving, litter and bullying is totally unacceptable.

Not always possible Yorkie, how many of us have gone out of the house and then had to go to the loo in town?     Same applies to dogs too but there is no excuse for anyone not picking up after their dogs have fouled.   It is not acceptable and if anyone sees a dog crapping they should approach the owner and ask him to pick it up.
If they are worried about confrontation then take a photo as Richard has suggested and send the photo of the person and/or car to the Dog Warden. Don't forget that you are paying the Dog Warden's wages and they need to know what and where the problem is.
