Tudno Castle is coming down, Gwyn Jones of You Know You are From Llandudno Facebook page reported an application has been submitted to demolish as it's in too poor a condition to retain.
In 2014 Opus North (Llandudno) Ltd and Tudno Development Ltd received planning permission from Conwy Council to redevelop the derelict Tudno Castle Hotel. The proposed development would provide a 63 bedroom hotel with restaurants and new retail units, retaining and incorporating the listed façade (planning application number 0/40758).
Work started on the development in early 2017. However, as work progressed it became apparent that the building was in a much poorer condition than first thought. As a result, it is not possible to retain the façade as originally proposed.
Against this background, Opus North (Llandudno) Ltd and Tudno Development Ltd are proposing to submit a revised planning application to demolish the former Tudno Castle Hotel.
The original façade of the building will be recreated so the building will retain its original look from the outside alongside the new retail elements. On this website you can view all the documents Opus North will submit as part of the planning application and leave your comments about our revised proposals.
