Llandudno has the most expensive street for property in Wales.

There was a press report yesterday which gave details of the most expensive addresses for the UK. In Wales, the property prices are the highest in Llys Helig Drive, Llandudno. It said the properties there were worth around £1.6 million.

I remember in the 1960s that Llys Helig Drive was known as Millionaires' Row.

Helig.

It also has one or two of the brashest houses too as each new build tries to out do the others. Good taste doesn't always come with wealth it appears.

Apparently, house prices in Llandudno dropped in 2015; second highest fall in the U.K. to Aberdeen.

I wonder what caused that?

I read a report, and local estate agents disagree, saying that these figures come from Zoopla , and most of them have changed to Rightmove now.

I thinks it's true, but Estate Agents don't like to admit it.
I've kept an eye on several properties that I have been interested in, some of them have been on the market for years.
All of them are now listed for considerably less than they were a year or two ago.
One of them has been reduced by 40% in the last 2 years.

Bri, the reason?  No one has any money, and the relationship between earnings and house prices became ridiculously overstretched.

I agree with you on both counts, Fester, but why Llandudno in particular?

Not sure Bri, perhaps house prices had risen disproportionately in Llandudno in the past, due to its sought after status, and now it's just a natural readjustment.  Just a theory.

Fester, have you noticed that none of the local estate agents in Madoc Street and Mostyn Street subscribe to Zoopla?

It's all the those houses on Llys Helig that have halved in value since the recent builds have been going up. ;D

Talking of Llys Helig.......

Llandudno’s New Year celebrations will be punctuated by a blast from the past after a local man restored a cannon belonging to Admiral Lord Nelson’s fleet.

Roger Smith, 79, of Llys Helyg Drive, has owned the 4ft 4in, 12lb carronade cannon for 40 years but decided to restore it and fire it off in homage to lost sailors.
He plans to use it at the stroke of midnight to mark the beginning of 2017 - the first time it has been fired in almost 210 years.
