I am on my annual solo trip to Dubai but don't worry about me being lonely as I have the trusty Three Towns Forum with me!   ;D

This is the amazing view from my room.

Fair play to you Hollins.

I have stayed over for the odd night in Dubai hotels, whilst travelling on business, but sadly I have never had chance to immerse myself in the culture, the nightlife..... or even the shopping malls!

We recently stayed at a hotel in Baden Baden that had real open fires in some of the guest rooms. This is my ultimate treat but there are not many around to chose from.
The town itself was very pleasant with a river running through it called the Lichtentaler Allee which had lovely walking paths along the length of it. This was our first visit and so there were plenty of things to explore including a Faberge museum and some wonderful old buildings. It was a bit of an outpost for Russian people. Russian estate agents, menus written in Russian etc.
We travelled there by train. It was a German train on route from Basel to Hamburg and it whisked us along at 250kms per hour.

The view from our room at the hotel in Beaumaris was a little wetter than usual this weekend, but we still had a great time.  $good$

Back from a weekend in the Peak District, staying in Buxton. A beautiful Georgian Spa Town with a fantastic Park & Pavilion (Llandudno should be very envious), we had a wonderful time:

Oh DaveR, that has brought a tear to my eye seeing your wonderful photos of my previous home. Well actually we lived 15 mins away in the hills but Buxton was the nearest town.
My first job when I left college was a waitress at the Pavilion Gardens.
Many memories and your photos make it look so beautiful. Glad to see you had some lovely weather too.

Nice pics, DaveR.

Our youngest was fortunate to have performed in that Opera House a couple of years ago.

I have had a look at the flickr photos and I love the one of the frosty hills. Did you take any others in the countryside?

I had a weeks stay in that crescent shaped building,   I think it was called St Anne's Hotel and travelled to Buxton from Manchester by train and it was the first time in this country that I had seen a snow plough on the front of a locomotive.
It was a February many years ago and everyone on the course hoped that we would get snowed in as we were having such a good time there.    :)
