An example of a very long exposure, This is a 25 second shot on Penrhyn Bay Promenade I did a couple of years back. Note how the car lights form one long trail and the street lights have a star effect around them. Because it was a very long exposure, I needed to knock the aperture up to avoid the image being far too light, so I set it on f/13. The ISO was able to remain low at 160, this giving a pretty sharp image.

This is a 10 Second exposure at f/9 at the mini roundabout in Penrhyn Bay. This one is actually a bit too light (note the 'keep left' bollards are washed out), so I should maybe have increased the aperture from f/9 to maybe f/11. As with the other image, the ISO was set at 160:

I've got as major problem with your photographs Dave. Just looking at these sites through my eyes, without the camera, it doesn't look as clear as it does on your photos.  Keep taking them and I'll keep appreciating them.

I have a new tripod with QR coupling available if you want one.  £10 and free delivery to Penrhyn Bay!     :D

thanks Yorkie, I've got a tripod and although I did'nt use it for these pics I was happy with the light (this is my back garden tonight)

Dave, many thanks for the advice, you have inspired me to experiment with this night photography  &well&

So if we see someone creeping around Penrhryn Bay after dusk, equipped like an American Tourist, we'll all know who it is!     :P   ;D
Here's a picture of my cat Blackie sitting on the back wall, taken at night.  Think I've got a lot to learn!   L0L

I invested in a new HD camera earleir this year and haven't really done anything with it as yet except for some holiday snaps.  Must get out and try to take a few decently composed shots as there is so much that can be photographed in North Wales.    :)

North Wales certainly gives you a vast choice of places to go and see/photograph. There are still many parts of the area I haven't explored.  :)

Another finger numbing session on top of Pen Y Dinas with a wide angle lens and tripod produced a few decent shots. A 1 sec exposure at f/3.5 and ISO of 400:

Now there's a picture that should win photographic contests.  Worth turning into a Post Card!   Z**

About 11.30 tonight, Mrs Fester and I went up to sit on the bench on the headland (as you pass through the gate) on Anglesea Road (and yes it is spelled like that)

Its a very similar view to the one captured by Dave, but it also looks across to Conwy (with the castle illuminated) and Penmaenmawr and Beaumaris.

Wish I could take decent pictures and upload them, because there is a wealth of them to be had at any time of the year from that vantage point.

Now, I'm freezing and off to put the kettle on... BBBRRRRRRR
