Hey Dave - I have to say, your photography is fantastic! - and consistently so too. You even manage to make the Spar shop in Rhos look iconic - like something out of 1950s USA - amazing. I have really enjoyed seeing these superb photographs of my old home town and environs - to me they are images of paradise. When I look at your pictures I realise how much I miss my homeland.

I mean, the Netherlands is beautiful with it's huge skies, windmills and water, water everywhere... but when I saw the night shot from Pen y Dinas (Llandudno Bay At Dusk) I really wished I was there. How can I buy a print of it?.

Thanks again and please keep 'em coming!.

Ok - just seen the print on the Emporium website - really good value at £9.99 too. A couple of questions though if I may: I would really like a bigger print - say A3 - is that also possible? and one more, are the prints photographic prints or inkjet? I couldn't see any details on the website. I will buy a nice set of four different shots I think....

Thanks again Dave - keep up the great work!.

Hello,

All the Prints are done on proper Photographic paper by a professional photo printer. Most of them can be done in A3 size, although it does cost a bit more, as the cost of printing them rises a lot when you go above A4 size. If you'd like to send me a PM with the ones you are interested in, I will see if its feasible.

Thinking of the subject of the thread, I have searched back in my photographic archive and found this foto of my hotel taken during my visit back to Llandudno in 2008 - I have a few more and I'll post them too when I have time - if only just to keep this interesting thread alive...

Hey! - thanks Paddy. They are nowhere near Dave's standard, but they are a great reminder for me of my visit. I have a few more actually, but I don't want to clog up the forum with loads of my pictures!. There are a couple I can use in the quiz thread though - I haven't done that yet and it looks like fun....

Good morning Hollins - thanks for your encouragement!, I'm really happy you liked them. Llandudno is so beautiful when you really look at it isn't it?. I am so proud to have grown up there, I am always rambling on about it at work over here - and it is amazing the number of Dutch friends and people I know here who have actually been - and loved it!.

Yes I have at least two dastardly puzzling items for the quiz thread - I'll try and put them up there today...

Thanks ME - the camera I was using at the time was not very good so they could have been better. I had a Fujifilm S9600 with me to save weight on the plane as I only had carry on luggage. I usually use a Nikon D200 with various lenses for my work and the difference in quality is astounding. I am considering the D800 but there is a huge waiting list for them - I would have to save my pennies anyway, as they are not cheap.

Great photos, Ludo, I like the Elms Hotel one in particular. $good$

I use a D700; I was thinking about getting the D800 but, good as it is, it didn't offer anything really groundbreaking over a D700.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your encouragement - it is greatly appreciated. The D800 is 32 megapixels as opposed to the D700 and D200's 12.1, and as a full frame sensor among other things, at that resolution it provides far better potential for cropping while retaining good resolution. The on-camera processing at sensor level is much less in the D800 than in the Nikon semi-professional range, allowing more control to the photographer in Photoshop Camera Raw.

I have just read your post about the wickedness of the St George's Hotel - terrible that!. I hope they are prepared to pay for your wonderful image. That is the trouble with the internet though - it is a honey pot for copyright theft and although there are the beginnings of a fight back from professional musicians, film makers and artists, it is still very much like the 'wild west' online at the moment. I think it will change in time.

PS: I edited this post because I originally wrote W W W instead of 'internet' and it appeared as a devil icon instead - although strangely appropriate in this context I thought....
