It was not too long ago that another hotel was in trouble for simply painting its exterior the wrong shade of pink.

Personally, I thought that the hotel looked fresh and attractive and didn't know what all the fuss was about, but the Castle Hotel is an eyesore and quickly getting worse.
I wonder what CCBC  is saying to the freeholder about the apparent lack of activity on this property.

Large numbers of construction projects were put on hold pre-Brexit, with a view to them getting underway if we decided to remain. In the current economic climate, any developer would be a fool to even consider starting a scheme like the Tudno Castle. All these things are interlinked and things like Brexit and the current economic chaos we find ourselves in even have an effect in an out-of-the-way place like Llandudno.

I think a bit of interest into why the Tudno castle is delayed or in depth look into MBI or what does town need to attract large investors ,ok they will not upset CCBC and will not upset Mostyn estates so no chance of any interesting articles

A sort of link between MBI and investment.
"MBi Consulting was created for the provision of professional services to property developers, managing all aspects of a project from design through to sales, with release to an international purchaser network.

At this time, the UK was experiencing a time of economic downturn, causing developers to look for alternatives to traditional bank loan options . The natural step was to look to the private market where sophisticated, high net-worth individuals were looking to purchase in the buy-to-let sector. Today, MBi have evolved into both developer and operator of our own facilities in UK care sector."

From todays DP.
Investors are being offered the chance to buy a room in an historic Conwy Valley mansion under a multi-million plan to redevelop the site.
MBi Consulting bought the accountancy school and wedding venue in the Conwy Valley last October for more than £1m after it was put up for sale by owner John Anderson.
They re-opened the site for weddings and revealed they wanted to transform the site into a luxury hotel and spa.

Now investors can buy into the deal with rooms on offer - priced between £50,000 for a standard double to £180,000 for an “ultra premium” suite.
The scheme is being marketed with Properties of the World with claims of a 10% return per annum and two weeks use of the room each year.
They said: “Backed by an outstanding and reputable developer, this development will surely become North Wales’ most exclusive hotel.”

I wonder if their financial advisor is called Mr Ponzi by any chance?

Seaside towns need support to help them 'fight back from decades of decay'.

The British Hospitality Association (BHA) claims that people living in coastal towns across the UK are more likely to be poorly educated, suffer unemployment and face other challenges.

It states that 645,606 people live in coastal areas in Wales. A total of 98,221 people in the nation's coastal local authorities work in the hospitality sector.

Research by the owners of Butlin’s and the BHA found that more than half of the British public have not visited the British seaside in the past three years – with 65% thinking that the seaside is run down and in need of investment.

Now, now, Fester;  remember, we're all £350m better off as country, or perhaps a bit less - okay, a lot less, so there's bound to be loads left over for seaside towns, once they've finished ploughing the billions promised into the NHS, provided the Farmers with their huge subsidies and done all the other wonderful things we can do as the world's fifth largest economy - or is that 6th, now? Oh well, at least we;ve sill got that triple A credit rating. Sorry, AA- now. Well, the exports should be much easier now the pound has dropped so much. If, of course, we had much to export, since we're a net importer. Okay, F: you were right...

Well spotted  .....“31 other European countries currently benefit from a reduced rate of tourism VAT”.

Another point from the same article....."A Welsh Government  fund is helping many coastal towns and just earlier this week we invited applications for the £3.4m Big Lottery fund’s Coastal Communities Fund.”......I wonder who sent in our application.          &shake&

Just had a phone call from a friend who's mother comes to Llandudno by coach and stays at the Merrion. She has had a letter to say that they are no longer taking coach trips and no longer offering an evening meal.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
Thanks

Nem, a few regulars of mine have mentioned that to be the case, also regular guests at the Merrion.
They are disappointed, but they were given notice of this months ago.

Queens Hotel, Llandudno
A PROMINENT Llandudno hotel has been acquired by a property development company.

Leisure property specialists Fleurets acted on behalf of Devoy Hotels in the marketing of the Queens Hotel in Llandudno, which has been operated by the Devoy family for more than 36 years and has now been acquired by Northern Powerhouse Developments.   (MBI ?)
The Queens Hotel was marketed on a discreet basis by Fleurets, and the property’s virtual freehold was sold off a guide price of £3 million.

The purchaser Gavin Woodhouse, chairman of Northern Powerhouse Developments, said: "We are delighted to have secured ownership of this iconic hotel and are looking forward to continuing the success the Devoy family have enjoyed for nearly 40 years.

"The Queens enjoys an enviable position in the heart of this famous seaside town and together with our hotel management group Giant Hospitality, we plan to invest even further in the hotel to ensure it attracts the next generation of holidaymakers. Northern Powerhouse Developments who also oversaw the £6 million refurbishment of the neighbouring boutique Llandudno Bay Hotel last year, have received huge credit for their sympathetic development of hotels in north Wales and across the UK.”

Gavin Woodhouse added: "It is our intention to build upon the success the Llandudno Bay Hotel has enjoyed, and while The Queens will attract a different type of guest we want to make it the ultimate destination for families to come and stay and enjoy all that Llandudno has to offer.”

In addition to the Queens and Llandudno Bay Hotel, Northern Powerhouse Developments have also secured ownership of two other hotels in north Wales: Caer Rhun Hall and the Belmont Hotel.  ref Pioneer
