Hotel gets coveted four-star rating following £6m revamp

A renowned hotel has been handed a four-star rating by tourism chiefs following a £6m refurbishment.
Visit Wales gave the rating to the Llandudno Bay Hotel in Llandudno, dubbed the queen of Welsh resorts.
The business - formerly the Regency Royal Hotel on the East Parade - has been revamped into a 61-bedroom boutique-style hotel, with a 90-cover restaurant.
“The owners are to be congratulated for transforming the property into a high quality hotel with restaurant and cocktail bar.

“It will be an added attraction for Llandudno and is a boost to the quality of accommodation on offer in the area.”

The recent acquirers of The Grand Ash hotel have been looking to sell it already.

The have approached 2 different hotel owners, (at least), but they want to retain it for their own use, for July and August each year.

Obviously a very strange and unacceptable arrangement for any prospective purchaser.

There have been a lot of unacceptable things going on anyway and I can't imagine anyone wanting to deal with the strings of complaints which have been in the area recently.

GALLERY: £3m Llandudno hotel praised for improved disabled access
ARCHITECTS behind the £3million renovation of a Llandudno hotel which caters specifically to disable users have been praised.
Following designs by Lancashire architects Croft Goode, the Esplanade Hotel officially opened earlier this year after extensive work which involved refurbishment, remodelling and an extension of the site.

Owned by Safehands Care Group, the Grade II Listed building has undergone major improvements including the internal layout and reconfiguration of 40 larger rooms to meet disabled person’s needs.
Paul Manning, managing director at Safehands Care, said: “Our vision was to retain the character of the building, whilst providing a modern ambience once you stepped through the door.
“We liased with Croft Goode to understand the issues we would face as the project progressed, and how to sympathetically restore the property while providing cutting-edge assistive technology for disabled visitors and guests.

“We are immensely proud of what we have achieved.
The craftsmanship that has gone into this renovation project has been well considered to create, what we believe, is disabled hotel accommodation that is second to none in the UK.”

Exterior remodelling involved new ramps fitted at both the front and rear entrances of the hotel, with railings re-added leading up towards the main entrance.
A new access core was also added to the rear, designed to be in keeping with the existing build.

The Esplanade Hotel was originally formed by the combination of five Victorian townhouses in the 1920s and remained family owned and run until being sold to Safehands Care in 2013.

Not sure if this is old news....... Mostyn Estates has bought The Royal Hotel.
I wonder what their plans are for it? It will need a considerable amount of money spending on it to reopen as a hotel. Maybe a conversion into apartments is on the cards?

The ormescliffe has more bedrooms than they are using but they say too small ,so the same could happen with the queens .
