£3m Llandudno hotel praised for improved disabled accessARCHITECTS behind the £3million renovation of a Llandudno hotel which caters specifically to disable users have been praised.
Following designs by Lancashire architects Croft Goode, the Esplanade Hotel officially opened earlier this year after extensive work which involved refurbishment, remodelling and an extension of the site.
Owned by Safehands Care Group, the Grade II Listed building has undergone major improvements including the internal layout and reconfiguration of 40 larger rooms to meet disabled person’s needs.
Paul Manning, managing director at Safehands Care, said: “Our vision was to retain the character of the building, whilst providing a modern ambience once you stepped through the door.
“We liased with Croft Goode to understand the issues we would face as the project progressed, and how to sympathetically restore the property while providing cutting-edge assistive technology for disabled visitors and guests.
“We are immensely proud of what we have achieved.
The craftsmanship that has gone into this renovation project has been well considered to create, what we believe, is disabled hotel accommodation that is second to none in the UK.”
Exterior remodelling involved new ramps fitted at both the front and rear entrances of the hotel, with railings re-added leading up towards the main entrance.
A new access core was also added to the rear, designed to be in keeping with the existing build.
The Esplanade Hotel was originally formed by the combination of five Victorian townhouses in the 1920s and remained family owned and run until being sold to Safehands Care in 2013.
