Nestled in the heart of the Conwy Valley is the Hilton Garden Inn Snowdonia Hotel.

If you are looking for somewhere that is dog-friendly, with plenty of walking and adventure opportunities right on your doorstep, then this is the hotel for you.

While it provides guests with a nice, quiet, rural backdrop, you are also just a short drive to popular tourist towns including Conwy, Llandudno and Betws-y-Coed.

The hotel only opened in 2021, so is still relatively new providing a modern setting.

A Llandudno hotel with numerous poor reviews has called in liquidators after a fall in trade. The Whitehouse Hotel sits in a prime position on the seafront of the seaside town but was badly rated on review site TripAdvisor - with 452 out of 1,099 reviewers saying it was "terrible".

Liquidators said operator Seaside and Rural Breaks Limited had been hit by the slowdown in the hospitality sector at a time when costs are spiralling. The 56-bedroom hotel on St Georges Crescent saw losses start to mount as it was not able to generate enough income.

It will not have been helped by its online reviews with a recent one warning 'Don't go there' while another talked of damp, stains on bedding and "animals roaming the hotel".

A SEAFRONT hotel in Llandudno has undergone an ambitious green transformation to slash energy costs and reduce its carbon footprint by 84 per cent.

The Grade II listed Llandudno Bay Hotel had been closed for more than two years when it was taken over by Everbright Hotels, when there was no hot water to the top floor and it was facing rocketing energy costs.

The utilities bills were forecast to be more than ?300,000, but two years on its fortunes have been transformed following a major refurbishment which has trimmed the total amount to just over ?80,000.

The hotel has also installed EV charging points to encourage visitors to reduce their carbon emissions.

A LLANDUDNO hotel that was given a food hygiene rating of one has ?rectified? the ?minor infringements? that lead to the low score.

The New Loretta Hotel, on Deganwy Avenue, was given a one-out-five score after assessment on December 27, 2023.

The report into the business had rated the cleanliness and condition of its facilities and building ?generally satisfactory?.

However, the hotel?s management of food safety was rated ?major improvement necessary?, with its hygienic food handling scored ?improvement necessary?.

General manager Theresa Curbishley said the one rating was down to a staff paperwork error, and that other problems had been fixed ? they will be re-scored within the next month.

She told the Pioneer: ?Sadly the chef on duty had put the wrong month on his paperwork which resulted in the current score.

?The other minor infringements have been rectified.

?The hotel will be re-scored by the EHO in February/March.?

New Loretta Hotel offers live entertainment, and also has a bar and 100-seat restaurant.             pioneer

NEW life is being breathed into a prominent Betws-y-Coed hotel, as a multi-million-pound refurbishment of the site starts today (February 19).

The Swallow Falls Inn, formerly The Swallow Falls Hotel, is anticipated to be ready to re-open its doors by the 2024.

Acquired by The Inn Collection Group in November 2021, the programme of works planned will transform the site, with a new pub and restaurant among the additions.

A HOTEL in the centre of Llandudno is undergoing an extensive makeover, months after an ill-timed food hygiene inspection said ?major? work was needed at the site.

The Broadway Hotel, at 1 Mostyn Broadway, was given a one-out-of-five score on September 6, despite not having a functioning kitchen at the time.

The report into the business rated its hygienic food handling ?good?, the cleanliness and condition of its facilities ?improvement necessary?, and its management of food safety ?major improvement necessary?.

However, the hotel explained that the inspector was ?not happy with the ongoing building? and the structural side of the work ? work that was unavoidable.

The hotel is in the process of moving its kitchen from the basement level to the ground floor, and hopes to complete the work and open the new kitchen by the start of next month at the latest.

A POPULAR bed and breakfast in Llandudno could be converted into a residential property, after a planning application was submitted.

The business currently offers six en suite bedrooms, across three storeys, with five of these rooms currently let out for six months a year.

Solely run by Tracey McLaren and her husband, the B&B has previously won awards for its service and its popularity with visitors.

?My husband and I have run the guest house by ourselves with no additional staff.

?We are now approaching retirement age and would like to continue living in our home.?

It will be interesting to see if this one stays as a hotel ?

A HOTEL in the centre of Llandudno has gone on the market for a huge six-figure sum.

The Oak Alyn Hotel, at 2-4 Deganwy Avenue, is up for sale with commercial estate agents Christie & Co for ?550,000.

Made up of 12 en-suite guest bedrooms and a bar, the current owners open it for eight months of the year, a seasonal service like many hotels in the town.

A highly-rated guest house, The Oak Alyn has 4.5 ratings on both TripAdvisor and Booking.com.

THE derelict former site of a hotel in Llandudno is to become an ?aparthotel? after a new owner purchased the site.

Previously The Woodlands Hotel, 47-49 Trinity Avenue was bought by Chester-based entrepreneur Dave Goodfellow for ?225,000 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Work started on refurbishing the site about a year ago, with Dave saying roughly ?1million has been spent on bringing the property back up to scratch.

It will comprise 11 apartments, with Dave hoping to open it this summer.

prices for an apartment will vary between seasons, but likely start from roughly ?80 a night.

?We?re hoping to get it open for June or July this year. It?s a fantastic old Victorian property that needed a lot of work doing to it.
