Hollins and Nemesis, I have to admit that in the end I didn't have to be very daring. 

I eyed up the ride for a while after church and thought that it didn't look too fast (that was an illusion as the ends of the arms apparently get up to 60 mph!) but thought that the turning upside down looked a bit too exciting.   The ride also seemed to go on for a long time - rather too good a value for my liking.  However, at the beginning or end of the ride there would have been time, from the right seat, to get a good view of the church, so I was prepared to have a go. 

I asked if I'd be able to take my camera on the ride, to take some photos of the church, but was told "Sorry, no", as it wouldn't have been safe to take anything which could fall.    However, if I went back at the end of the afternoon, when it was quietening down, I could have a couple of minutes at the top and then come down again - so that's how I got the photos.

Sorry, Blodyn, but I have to disagree.

On Saturday afternoon, I thought ten revolutions for £4 was poor value-for-money but it did not seem to deter all the teenagers from queuing up.

In fact, there was a similar ride in Upper Mostyn Street that did 13 revolutions for £4 with no queue at all when we passed.

I totally agree but I wouldn’t have minded the takings just for one hour.

8 x £4 = £32
15 x £32 = £480

Can you begin to imagine the takings for the whole weekend at around £500 per hour?

I wonder how much (or little) they pay the Extravaganza Committee for that spot outside Trinity Church and the National Trust?

Yes, but they still had to buy the ride, pay insurance etc.

Well, Bri, I didn't count the revolutions and I can see that the teenagers might have agreed with you but, personally, I would have considered 10 spins more than adequate and 13 excessive!    Thanks for your comment on my photos.

Not a problem, Blodyn, but if I am not being rude, I am still curious for an answer to my question especially if these fairground rides can each manage to draw in £10,000 plus over the weekend.

I would hate to think the Extravaganza Committee undersell themselves.

Bri,can you imagine the grief i had from the operator when he realised there was a ride the same as his in Upper Mostyn St and he had to lower his price to 4 pound from 5,he was not happy,but like i told him i don;t ask you how much you take home so please no complaining about a bit of competition.

That question ranks alongside the most annoying ones I hear when I am working.

Those being, ''How much do you take in here mate?''

Or ..... ''I bet you do alright, I'll give you £1 for this item that costs £2.99..''

I always wonder what response they would get asking the same question in Asda....... or Cafe Culture!
