Hmmm, anymore of this and you will even have me believing that this stuff works!

I have to say, having read the whole article, that Maureen Lipman writes in a really amusing style, very much like our very own Pendragon.     I miss Angie!

It was always going to be extremely difficult for local radio stations in areas with small populations to stay within the limitations. As for TV stations the outlook is even more dire.

Mark Whincup: North Wales children's entertainer in court over child abuse images and dealing crystal meth
Dec 05, 2014 15:22 By Eryl Crump, Gareth Hughes

The 50-year-old magician is facing 19 charges relating to making, distributing and possessing indecent images and three for supplying Class A drugs

A North Wales children’s entertainer has appeared in court charged with supplying, making and possessing indecent images of children and supplying Class A drugs including crystal meth.

Mark John Whincup, of Ebberston Road East, Rhos-on-Sea, faces 22 charges involving drugs and child pornography.

The 50-year-old, who is also known as “Magic Mark”, was remanded in custody at Prestatyn Magistrates and will appear at Caernarfon Crown Court next week.

As well as being a magician Whincup has also worked with CAIS, the drug and alcohol agency, on a project called “Don’t Touch, Tell”, warning children of the dangers of needles.

The entertainer has appeared in local pantomimes including those at Theatr Colwyn.

Prosecutor Tracey Willingham outlined the charges, three of them relating to the supply of a Class A drug, methamphetamine, which is known as crystal meth.

Whincup is also charged with nine offences of making indecent films, six of distributing indecent images of children, two of possessing videos of extreme pornography, one of possessing 674 video images and one of possessing 117 still images.

All the alleged offences occurred between January, 2012, and July this year, but Ms Willingham stressed that none of the images were of children with whom he had come into contact in his work as an entertainer.

Whincup, who sat with his head bowed and eyes closed much of the time as the content of some of the films was outlined, gave no indication of his pleas to the charges.

The magistrates declined jurisdiction and remanded him in custody after his solicitor Ms Elspeth Kenny said she was not in a position to put forward a bail address outside North Wales.

Whincup was first arrested on July 2 this year and answered bail on December 4 when he was charged with distribution, making and possession of indecent images of children and supply of class A drugs.

Speaking after Whincup was charged Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Evans said: “Following interview he was bailed for officers to complete their investigation and examine electronic equipment seized from him.

“On December 4 he answered bail and was charged with distribution, making and possession of indecent images of children and supply of class A drugs.”

The officer added: “The defendant is a well-known local children’s entertainer who has worked across North Wales for years. I understand this will cause concern however I can say that at this stage of the enquiry, none of the images were obtained during the course of his work. As this matter is now before the Courts it would be inappropriate to add anything further.”

If anyone has concerns or wants further information they can phone North Wales Police on 101.

Big congratulations to our very own Fester, whose shop has been mentioned by Maureen Lipman in the Spectator magazine this week!

"Holidaying recently in north Wales, however, I wandered into a kiosk of soaps and tinctures on Llandudno pier. There was a remedy for sleep that Peter, the knowledgeable proprietor, told me was his biggest seller. It contains lavender (naturally), ylang ylang (not a sleepy Chinese pianist) and odorata (not an impregnated insole). I paid three quid and left smiling drily. That night, still sneering. I applied it to my temples, wrists and the soles of my feet. Reader, I slept like a warthog! Result! The next day in pelting rain I ran back to the kiosk and bought six more phials for myself and my baggy-eyed friends. "

Man arrested in connection to manslaughter of Rhos on Sea woman

Published date: 09 December 2014 |
Published by: Staff reporter

A MAN has been interviewed on suspicion of manslaughter after a woman who collapsed at home later died.

An inquest was opened on Monday into the death of 58-year-old Susan Roberts who died in the intensive care unit at the Maelor Hospital, Wrexham, on December 2.

John Gittins, the coroner for North Wales East and Central, said at the hearing in Ruthin that Ms Roberts had collapsed at her home in Penrhyn Avenue, Rhos-on-Sea, on November 20.

“There may have been a delay in assistance being called,” he said.

A post-mortem examination was carried out by Home Office pathologist Dr Brian Rodgers who deferred a decision on the cause of death pending further tests.

The coroner said a decision to resume the inquest would be made when it is known whether criminal charges will be brought.

A North Wales Police spokes woman said later: “A 61-year-old man is currently on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of a woman.

“The 58-year-old woman, from Rhos-on-Sea, died at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital on the 2nd of December.

“Officers investigating the death arrested the man, who is also from Rhos-on-Sea, on December 3 and he has since been released on police bail while inquiries continue."

These delays in ambulance attendance.... it's getting progressively worrying.

Mrs Fester said today, ''Moving to Llandudno is the best thing we ever did, but we didn't think it through in terms of hospitals for when we get ill did we?''

Can't grumble-- I am neither a regular visitor at the G.P. or a hospital, but I saw my G.P and within a month I was at Bangor. I was seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time and was happy with the way I was treated. Can't say that I wasn't scared stiff about going, as it is over 25 years since I went to a hospital apart from a few minor mishaps, but I was made to feel OK.

That word can only be used for bat decapitation related incidents
